kathy - Much like the veteran moms here, I'm one of the few guys that actually visits the various forums.  I'm a retired sailor too.

Just to keep all the moms on the same page, there are no hormone shot given to guys to prevent the guys of getting a "stiffy schlong" (for lack of a better word).  It's all a joke.  I usually start when a bunch of veterans get together and we try to top each others story's.  It just goes on and on.... This is just like the mail buoy watch, and we just keep adding to the story....

I run a deppers website and I always want the deppers to know the truth of what happens in boot camp.  Maybe this link will help some of the moms too.

Disclaimer:  Being a veteran sailor I don't sugarcoat things.  So if you easily offended, don't click this link....

The "Peanut Butter shot" & "Salt Peter" & "The Square Needle"

for the Mail Buoy Watch story:

Mail Buoy Watch

(hey diannep, Lala, FTLW, JessicaB...I see betsy is slacking and is not here)....

Just got my first phone call! What a surprise! Got to talk to him for about 30 mins. Today just happens to be his birthday, too which has nothing to do with why he got to call, but what a nice "gift"! He sounds great!

ctav:  The Courtyard is very close to Sarge's MeetNGreet, and near the Springhill Suites and Residence Inn.  Right by the Walmart shopping center where they have some restaurants, etc.  Nice area.  Only about 4-5 miles from RTC.  Courtyard has the PIR shuttle service so be sure to sign up for it when you check in if you aren't planning to take your car.

kathyrc:  They used to give the males something years ago for the purpose you mentioned, but found that it was carcinogenic so stopped.  Hadn't heard that they substituted something else but maybe so...poor SRs...they get so many shots that they have no idea what they are getting.  I was not a happy camper about that...my son's system was "pure"...takes no meds....didn't seem right to have their systems flooded with this "stuff."

Kathrc-glad you got a letter too. Today is my sons 20th bday so I am missing him and all the stupid family things we do on our birthdays. Sounds like there were a few of our group that had bdays this week. Can't wait for the phone calls! :-)

C's proud mom - I got my sons first letter (he doesn't like to write either) thurs pm. A couple of his friends also got letters. First call should be by next Wed (hopefully) cause that will be 3 weeks.

FTLW - My son had heard this from more than one person and we were going to ask his recruiter (cause it just did not sound right to me that they could do that) but my husband talked to someone who is or was in the service and they confirmed that they do it. Kinda weird to me...

Kim - you should book as soon as you can. Many are booking up. We are staying in Springhill Suites Waukegan.  Did you get my message that we got our first letter from my son?

Just a gentle reminder for the newer PIR groups and for any new members (Welcome!)

If your last name is in your username and it is the same as your recruits you will need to change your username. Last Names of Sailors/Recruits are not allowed on the N4M's site.

If it is not the same it is still a good idea to change it as this is a public forum and anyone can read the site...they do not have to be a member.

Here is how to change your username:

To change your username on here.

Just go to "Settings" which is in the list in the far right hand column of this page...under where you sign out of N4M's.

Your profile page will open.

Under "Profile" Username is the third item down.

Clear the info and type in your new username.

Once you do that make sure to click "save" at the bottom right of the page.

If you need any help ...let me know. TY!
