ctav01 - Wow...I am surprised unless she has a really bad time with her periods. If she has severe cramps or bleeding they may have to help her. I was surprised to find out they give the men some type of hormone shots to prevent them from....how should I say...being aroused?! I thought it was a joke, but apparently its not. The men are not supposed to even glance at the women. It's all kinda interesting....
CAB - Well put! Thanks...Your son should be proud to have such a wonderful and supportive Mom...and wife I am sure. Its hard, but we get through it and are even more proud of our kids!
Phew! Just got confirmed for the Courtyard in Waukegan. My in laws insisted on using their Marriott points which is nice but I always prefer to arrange these kinds of things myself just to be sure. Pretty anal, I guess.
We got our first letter from our daughter a few days ago. She said she had watch one night and the girl who had the watch just before her messed up on her log book entry and there was a lot of yelling. She said she was terrified someone would start yelling at her. She also said they put her on birth control pills which bothers me a lot. Any Mom input?
C's proud mom - he is still ship 03 DIV 175 but his address on the one and only letter I got is different from the form letter address. It was 3600 Ohio St now 3505 sailor drive and last four digits of zip are different.
Barbi - OMG I would be really mad too! Had nothing personal either and got my very first letter yesterday - thought I was the first he wrote (and may have been), but found out two of his best friends just got letters too. Hang in there....
Kathy, thanks! I try to write my SR every other day at least but really I am not too bothered if he doesn't write me a letter. Writing to his wife is more important to me...I really just want to give him and her all of the emotional support I can while they travel through this journey. My son never liked to write and he wrote his wife 10 pages and so I am proud of him for that. Just like you, she found it very emotional and yes, it is hard to hear when your loved one says it is tough...but we all need to remember it is an 8 to 9 week process and that they are tearing them down now but hopefully in a couple more weeks they will be building them back up. So glad we all have each other to share this journey with and to support one another through this very emotional time. :)
No mail from ship 2 div 930 for me either! :( I had 2 go through USMC boot camp and got mail every week. Trying to be patient! Just hope he is getting my mail.
All the ups and downs of this emotional roller-coaster...... very normal :-) Hang in there it will get better for him and you :-)
Kim - I also had an emotional time when I read my one letter...He is taking it day by day, but it sounds really tough (I know we all knew that) he is writing things and then say HaHa, which I know he is trying to stay strong. He got in trouble for taking too long a shower - it was only 20 seconds!! We just need to stay strong for them and help them through this...It will get better. He got assigned to be a Yeoman and then ended up Head Yeoman - he hates it, but is sticking with it. It's a lot of paper work (which he Never does and hates) - I am so PROUD of him, but also feel a little sad...I am sure that is normal...
