Comment
(Sigh) ...me too. I agree with diannep as far as following your SR's advice...and LaLa as far as it being sad.
Dianne, where did you read that and what division was it? In this group? I went back and didn't see that comment. I must have missed that one. Maybe they could just write the questions into the body of a letter. Or, maybe someone tried sending a bunch at one time to share with friends. That would be sad if they were not allowed because they are so helpful.
Good morning, ladies.
I was very surprised to hear that letters are getting totally screened in one division and questionnaires are not allowed. We have been recommending the questionnaires for a long time now and have never heard of a problem. But do follow the advice of your SR until you hear differently.
kathyrc: Yes, that is correct. You can give them personal items such as cells and laptops either at the airport when they are shipping out, or after they return from liberty if staying at GL for A School.
Gc0972 - That was beautifully put!!! Thanks.
JessicaB-SailorMom - hysterical picture - LOVE IT...as I try to patiently await my call....
RobertsMom - No idea how long your sons A school is. My sons is 12 weeks for operations specialist. Cell phones and computers are allowed during A school, but with restrictions on when they can use them. We cannot give them to them at graduation, but afterwards sometime is my understanding. My son will be in A school at GL so the rules might be different.
What is helping me get through is just realizing how fast the time has flown by since our kids were little :) It seems like yesterday and now they are all grown up :) So this is just a little time compared to what has been and will be. Stay strong for your sailors, they are under alot of stress just trying to make it through BC, if they know we are upset, it will not make it any easier on them. I to am waiting on June 8th so I can see my daughters beautiful face again :) Praying for them loving them and missing them like crazy, but letting them know that we are proud of them and they are strong enough and determined enough to accomplish the goals they have set for themselves, and they have the support of their whole family to make it happen.
Robertsmom, yes they can have their cell at A-school.If he flies out after PIR you can give him his cell phone if you meet him at the airport. He can't take it back to Recruit Training Command. If he has A-school in Great Lakes then you can give him his phone after you pick him up Friday afternoon when he is finished checking into A-school. You can look for a group for his rate/job and join that group. You will be able to get lots of questions answered there about his A-school and how long it lasts.
Where should you sit during PIR? Here is some info that may help you decide :-) Dianne and I both agree the best seat is the highest row you can get in the lower section. If you sit in the balcony section the railing will be in your pictures. There will be a Sailor standing beside a DIV sign for each divisions section. To get the best possible view of your Sailor you will want to sit in that section. You may want to write to your Sailor and ask where they will be when they march in, 1st row next to last, right in the middle, front row carrying a flag etc. That way you can look for him/her. Some families never see their Sailor until after the ceremony and then later can pic them out on the DVD and some families watch the wrong Sailor the whole time lol. They all look so much alike. If they are in the performing division they won't march in like the other divisions. They will come from different places depending on what they are doing. There are a couple pictures below to show you the difference in sitting in the lower or upper section for taking pictures.
