♥FireTeamLeaderWife♥ aka FTLW - Thank you. That must have been the card they were talking about in the video. I am surprised to find so many have mailed the phone cards back, that I thought there must be a reason. I think they were in my sons pocket and maybe he just had to strip down and didn't give it a thought.
Not sure, I am mailing to back to him, just in case, today.
kimmery11 - My son is Ship 3 DIV 175 also!!
I will have to watch that video again as well to make sure it is not something new. It may be the NEX card that you saw. They do issue them a card like a debit gift card to use to purchase things they need from the NEX. It has I believe $150.00 on it. That amount comes out of their paycheck. They only allowed to buy very specific items and aren't even allowed on the isles in the NEX that contain other things such as candy :-) They will buy shampoo, soap, calling card, stamps, paper, etc. If they have money left they can put it towards pictures or use that card in any NEX after bootcamp.
Good Morning :-)
Received a call from my son yesterday as he needed some info...it was great to hear his voice.
I just got my form letter from my son, he is on Ship 3, Div 175.
PIR group 06/15/2012 is formed. Here is the direct link:
kathyrc - As far as I know...RTC does not issue phone cards...I'll have to watch the video again ;-). It's supposed to be the most recent...but you never know!
RTC does issue NEX cards with $150.00 on it for the recruits to use for the duration of BC for their necessities. This does come out of their pay.
kathy- the ribbons are to wear to PIR to support you Sailor, like the ones in my profile picture. Send me a friend request on this site or an email to uniquememorymakers@yahoo.com if you would like more info :-)
For those who sent something home that they need that happens a lot. No worries, they will probably write and ask you to send some things back and may even be allowed to make a call to you for a minute or so to ask you to send it :-) As for the calling card you can go ahead and send it back or get one and send it if they went without one.
anyone with someone in ship 3 div 174 with my son Robert!
diannep: yes I'm sure he just tossed everything in the box. He actually mailed his wallet home with the phonecard in it. He even mailed home his direct deposit form! So I guess he will have to open another bank account there. ugh.
