I am going to take a guess.
I'm familiar with what they are now allowed to do since they have "flagged" their drill/marching flag... and say that they have earned the right to march where they need too without an RDC present. It's called Independant Steaming (you have to get the flag and the pennant I believe)- hence the "driver's license" ? (that's a new term for me!).
Basing my guess on what my son wrote too me when he was in BC about earning Flags and Pennants Bumping up the discussion for "Flags and Pennants..." up above.
(It's a guess so anyone correct me please if you know!)
Ship 07-346 / my Recruit's dad just got a letter saying the division had a marching drill inspection and "flagged it" so they got their "driver's license." Good news, but what does it mean, lol?!
proud2baNavyMom, I too was very touched to read what your SR had said about his Grandpa, and I hope they get to spend Christmas together. Both my sons are very close to my FIL and we found out last week he has prostate cancer, I however have NOT told my SR as I don't want it to affect him at bootcamp. We are hoping he caught it in time, so fingers crossed.
I've already lost both my parents (the 11th) will be the one year since my Mom died very suddenly, and Nov, 4 years since my Dad. My SR will actually graduate on what would have been my Dads 75th birthday, so that's very special.
nsjc04, hoping you find out good news from the recruiter today, and we wish your SR the very best !!!!
Ok I'll leave now, before I end up writing a book, lol. I'm so anxious for that call tomorrow, can't you tell !!!!
Wishing all our SR's good luck in everything they do, and I'll be praying hard !!!
First and foremost wishing everyones' SR success on Battlestations. My blue candle is lit until we leave for Great Lakes. Also does anyone remember where on this site someone had posted a copy of the Photo ordersheet? Thanks
