Good morning, everyone!

You are all MORE than welcome.

Yeah, it's so hard because on base they KNOW the rules. Now there are new ones for being out in public and hard to remember ALL of them. Plus there are MORE civilians and you have to be on watch for miltary personnel.

Sandy...good story and yes, mine was so nervous about running into personnel and messing up. They ARE being watched.

Get used to them putting on their cover and taking it off. Also, bad weather gear and coats. Going in and out of doors is time consuming! LOL

I have tried to be patient, but I haven't received a letter or call as yet.

I know no news is good news, but it's driving me crazy!!

So very happy to get my first real call from my SR. Tomorrow he will have been there 4 weeks and I was beginning to wonder IF he was gonna get that call. He said some of the guys have enjoyed some of the cards I sent. Nice to know it helps lighten their day, he also said he re read the letters he gets at night especially if it's been a tough day. Does it ever get old to be so happy knowing  we made our kids lives a bit easier? :)

Lala, my son had the same reaction when driving...was for once in his life...speechless!  He had actually been at RTC for 10.5 weeks by PIR because of Thanksgiving/Christmas holidays and being asmoed.  He was more than ready to get out...but it's almost like they are afraid they will get yelled at!  HA!  I actually liked it that he was more quiet...more mature!

It is also funny to see how they react to riding in a car again. After 8 weeks without being in a car my daughter said it felt like we were flying. She was very nervous of my driving and said I bet this is how you felt when I was learning to drive lol. SO true :-)

To answer some questions:

1.  My son is Ship #2 Div 343

2.  It was sooo amazing to hear his voice since I didn't get the "I'm here" phone call.

3.  When I was in the Army the saying is "If your early, your on time.  If your on time, YOUR LATE!!", I'm sure it's the same for the Navy.

4.  I asked my son if he was hating life or if he was glad he did it.  His response: "Come on, I can have fun doing anything".  He said that when he first got there he could only do 17 push-ups and that night before last he did 42.  He has really made the best out of it and I am so proud of him.  He seems to really be enjoying this experience.

5.  If the Navy is anything like the Army, becareful what you feed your SR while they are with you.  When we got back to the barracks we got "smoked", we enjoyed it but many got sick because they ate so much junk.  No civies, no PDA, no alcohol, no smoking (or smokeless), no going to the bar (even if your not drinking).  There is a long list of Do's and Don't's that I'm sure the Soldiers will be briefed on.
