Choose your Username. For the privacy and safety of you and/or your sailor, NO LAST NAMES ARE ALLOWED, even if your last name differs from that of your sailor (please make sure your URL address does not include your last name either). Also, please do not include your email address in your user name. Go to "Settings" above to set your Username. While there, complete your Profile so you can post and share photos and videos of your Sailor and share stories with other moms!

Join groups! Browse for groups for your PIR date, your sailor's occupational specialty, "A" school, assigned ship, homeport city, your own city or state, and a myriad of other interests. Jump in and introduce yourself! Start making friends that can last a lifetime.

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security

Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.

DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.

DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

I would have loved to meet everyon before but I think we may be taking a 6:00 thursday flight since I just started a new job last week. Proud navy mom you are so lucky to have gotten a phone call. Im going to be waiting for mine now. I get butterflies just thinking about it

Comment by Betsy, mom of Stennis sailor on September 11, 2011 at 4:59pm: I totally agree with diannep, the Residence Inn was also very family friendly and the first shuttle is awesome! We were able to stand inside the building in the hallway before entering the main Hall. We were one of the first people to arrive and, it was very cold, so it was nice to stand inside and be the first one's to enter the main Hall.

Comment by diannep on September 11, 2011 at 1:51pm: I think you all will enjoy Residence. We did! They have a 6:30 PIR shuttle too...I recommend that you sign up for that one. You will be seated in the drill hall most likely by a little after 7....can choose your seats then---you sit by divisions, but still....there are different views of the floor so nice time to test it out!

Comment by diannep on September 11, 2011 at 10:16am: Micelervc: They pull the wisdom teeth if they feel they could pose any problems down the road when on a ship. So most have some extractions...very few escape this, although some can be delayed a bit to "watch" them.

Comment by Michelervc on September 11, 2011 at 8:55am: Sorry Ive been busy the past week. I just started work last week and my daughters sweet sixteen was last night. Is anyone staying at the mariot residence? I booked a two bedroom but still havent booked flights. Oh my did anyone get a letter about wisdom teeth being pulled. We went to the dentist before my SR left and he said the were not ready to come out. He wrote me and said about ten of them were taken to the dentist. They pulled two teeth. He seemed okay about it though. I feel so bad if I knew they did that I would have done it here
