Fire team leader wife, thank you for posting the chart for recruit chain of command.  My fiance also mentioned a collar and was not sure what it was!

kjkooz:  Michael'sMom is right.  You do not have to stay on base to wait for your sailor...they will be on another base anyway (next door).  So just make sure your new sailor has a phone card to call your cell when ready for pickup  And then you can go wherever you like!  One mom posted in a past group that they had until about noon (PIR is over at 10:30) with their sailor on RTC before he had to move to GL.  Not sure if this is true of all of them, but was her experience.

Kjkooz. I heard the same but was told your SR will call you when they are done and ready to be picked up. I just wouldn't go too far. :o).

Can anyone answer this ? I have read that if your SR is attending A school at GL, they will have to check in immediately following graduation and this can take 3-5 hours. Does family have to remain on the base or can we leave and come back? We are traveling with "grandma" and I can't imagine her "hanging" for 3-5 hours! Thanks!

Yes...thanks dianne!...that's what happened to me. My son called while I was in the air flying to Chicago that everything had changed. If time and funds permit stay until Sunday.
You can read my post on this in the Pages section to the right. Just click view all and select "After PIR Liberty/Friday and Saturday Departures" . There is also "PIR reference info" and "Proper Public behavior with your new Sailor".

past couple of days have been difficult.Craving some sort of  communication  with my SR. Letter/phone call/smoke signals... anything!!  Yesterday was the first day I didn't send a letter.  Today is her birthday.  Mailman hasn't been here yet today,so I continue to hope for a letter.

diannep, Thanks, thats a good idea. My husband is retired Airforce and I know plans can change in a heartbeat. We will be flying as we live too far away to drive, I wish we could though as plane tickets are not cheap!!!   My son has even offered to pay for one of the tickets....bless his heart.

fireteamleaderswife, thankyou so much for taking the time to post the collar devices etc. It is very much appreciated !!!!

kjkooz:  Sometimes the calls are earned, sometimes scheduled....if a division does well, all may get calls....but they can lose them if they "screw up" before time to call.  One person can cause the entire division to lose their call time.  It is totally up to the RDCs.  Sometimes an individual may do something really exceptional and be granted a call.  My son was actually in 2 different divisions because he was asmoed when there...the first division, lots of calls.  The second division, hardly any.  Just a difference in the divisions and the RDCs.
