Thanks everyone, but my daughter/sailor and her sailor are already actually married. They got married last year Sept 3rd while she was in A-school, 4 days before he left for bootcamp. The were married in the Pensacola Courthouse with as my daughter put it, paper flowers lol. So they are having the wedding ceremony this coming Saturday on their first anniversary. I do recommend waiting until they can be together. This was a hard year for them as a young couple, especially to spend the first 5 months apart. There were a lot of life changing events for them in one year that is for sure.

Lala, Congrats!

proud2, my daughter is engaged to her sailor, but they are waiting until he is finished with his time in the Navy next year.

cakes, glad you refrained, I could see the headlines now.  "Crazed Navy Sibling gets stuck in US federal mail box trying to retrieve loved one's letter."   lol

I was able to finally mail the 10 letters I had written this morning (I got his address late Sat.) I put them in the mailbox seeing the first collection was at 11:30am , then I thought that I should stop into the post office to buy more stamps and the box in there had a collection at 10am. I thought about diving in the mailbox to get my letters, but thought that my completing a federal offense wouldn't be in my brother's best interst = ) Good luck to those waiting for letters.

Congrats on the up coming increase in family size Lala.  My son is also engaged but they are planning on a long engagement at least until after A school but from what they have told me probably even longer.  His fiance is doing great with him being gone to BC but she has her days when she really misses him.

Yeah, you may as well love it because that's the way it is and no one can change it lol. I can't wait to hear from her; it is driving me crazy but I don't want to call just in case she is sleeping as long as she can. They are supposed to be back late Thursday night and the wedding is Saturday. She is really worried though. They bot are supposed to have a 4 day weekend because of the holiday and their duty schedule had them off for all four days. Hopefully that won't get changed for either one of them because they didn't put in a CHIT since they were scheduled to have the weekend off.

They each have friends who live in the barracks so I wasn't sure if someone who lives there is allowed to have another Sailor spend the night. I hope so it would sure make things a lot easier. Especially if they have power in the barracks.

I have added a page with a ink to PIR dates where you can download and print your gate pass when it becomes available.

Lala, I hope your sailors' apartment is ok,  Yikes!

My parents, one sister and yet another brother don't have power.  My parents' sump pump also stopped (no battery back up) and they have 6 inches of water in their basement, along with no power.  Ugh!  They are in their late 70's and not able to deal with that, so I'm going there today to see what I can salvage for them.  I just found out last night too, because I called and they hadn't realized it yet because they hadn't gone downstairs.

We are growing by leaps and bounds and it is now hard for me to tell who I have welcomed aboard and who I have not.  I am officially going to say welcome aboard to all the new members.  Chat with us and learn as all of us newbie moms are doing.

HA, Betsy.  Sounds so silly, doesn't it?  Well, who am I to talk?  With all of the exercise I do (3 times a day), I take 3 showers a day myself!  But I can imagine that 40 hours of sweating in a non-a/c ship would be pretty gross...he sure was a much happier camper when I spoke to him yesterday afternoon after showering and lunch!  :-)

Veterans I am so glad all your sailors are safe and sound.  Sorry to here about the no power I understand that completely.
