Sigh....Lala....don't you just love the HOP TO of the Navy?  HA!  My son was told Fri night that they were being called in (before that, only duty personnel were to report to the ship)...to report at 4 a.m.....than later, it was changed to 3 a.m.....needless to say, don't think he slept much that night.

So glad the dogs are with you....wheeew....one problem solved...and she will be back this weekend for her wedding, right?  Hope they made it back to VA ok.

I don't think they would be allowed in barracks.  I know in my son's, all non-residents are kicked out at a certain time (including sailors not living there).  Maybe they can find some friends to stay with for a while.  Sure hope that their apt was not flooded and that power is back on soon.

That is great Dianne, My Sailors were supposed to go back today and back to work tomorrow but my daughter's was changed. She got a text last night at 6pm saying she had to be at work Monday (today) at 11am. So they had to scramble and get everything together and made a trip to Sams for supplies. We know they went back to now power and no estimate of when it would be fixed. They were expecting it to be out for at least a week but probably 2 weeks. We don't know if their apartment is flooded or not. I sure hope not, no power is bad enough. They did leave their 2 dogs here so they wouldn't have to worry about them, especially if they were flooded and had to find a different place to stay. They should have arrived back there about 3 am so I am anxious to here how things are. Since they are without power do you think they might be able to stay in barracks or are they own their own?

Woah, Dianne, poor guy.  I'm so glad that he was finally able to go back to his barracks and shower.

Yep, Sandy....40 hours with no shower.....P-U!  I'm sure they were one smelly group!  :-)

That is great Dianne!!  Glad to hear that they released him from his ship and he is now showered. Halleluiah!
Comment by diannep on August 28, 2011 at 12:02pm

He is now "released" from the ship, has had a shower (AMEN!)...and is headed to lunch.  Very little damage where he is and no flooding???  I even verified this by looking at the webcams around town.  Amazingly...all looked good...even blue skies and no flooding where the cameras were.  God is good!

My son is FREE until duty/work tomorrow.  He is now a happy camper!

diannep, I am glad that your Sailor is safe. Now for the worst part. Cleaning up.
Comment by Sandy's_sailor son on August 28, 2011 at 10:31am

kjkooz, I totally agree. It was very hard for me to say good by to my firstborn. It is still hard for me but it gets easier once they are out of boot camp. When they get settled into their (A)school, you will be able to talk to them everyday.

Skype is a lifesaver!!
