Choose your Username. For the privacy and safety of you and/or your sailor, NO LAST NAMES ARE ALLOWED, even if your last name differs from that of your sailor (please make sure your URL address does not include your last name either). Also, please do not include your email address in your user name. Go to "Settings" above to set your Username. While there, complete your Profile so you can post and share photos and videos of your Sailor and share stories with other moms!

Join groups! Browse for groups for your PIR date, your sailor's occupational specialty, "A" school, assigned ship, homeport city, your own city or state, and a myriad of other interests. Jump in and introduce yourself! Start making friends that can last a lifetime.

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security

Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.

DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.

DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

My aunt from NJ came out to visit us in CA the month of the Northridge Quake. She was terrified. She went home to NJ and never came back.

I wonder if people in NJ felt the quake?

Comment by past45 on August 23, 2011 at 5:57pm: Anne...my SR is on ship 04 div 820. His PIR is 10/14. For someone who asked, My SR arrived at GL on August 15. We got "the box" on Thurs, the 18th and we received "the form letter" on Monday, the 23rd. Hope it helps.

I just got back from running errands, etc and heard about the earthquake. Hope you all are ok. That is so scary!

That's the plan anyways...technically he could walk out the door whenever he wants...which is kinda freeing!

No way...dianne! I don't know how my son is doing it (Corry)with the humidity! It is so dry where we are. Then again...it would be great for my skin! Snakes aren't the only things that shed around here!

We have Border Collies and have done some sheepherding competition...so looking at at least 40 acres...Wyoming will probably be the best bet. Looking at Colorado too. We'll see. We would love to go back east...GREEN...but just don't think we could do it.

Okay...enough about ME...glad to see KIB/SIB's coming in (you guess what that stands for folks)...letters soon! If you are on other groups on this site and have friends that are sending loved ones off around the same time ...point them here please!
