OPSEC - Navy Operations Security

Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind.  In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships."  OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.

DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.

DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

**UPDATE - 2020**

Due to COVID there is no public PIR. The graduations are on Thursday, and the video of the graduation is posted on RTC's FaceBook on Friday at approx 3pm. Please keep in mind that a division may need to complete additional quarantine during training which will delay their graduation.

Please note! Changes to this guide happened in October 2017. Tickets are now issued for all guests, and all guests must have a ticket to enter base. A separate parking pass is no longer needed to drive on to base for parking.

Please see changes to attending PIR in the PAGES column. The PAGES are located under the member icons on the right side.

Betsy Ty for the post I was wondering if I need to do that but was unsure of how to go about it.  I can tell right now I am going to love having veteran moms to help.

Michelervc, we are really good at telling you what to do.  lol  I am just kidding. Welcome!  Please try to remember one thing and that is that last names are prohibited on the site and we also highly recommend that you not use their first names as well.   You can refer to your son as your SR or your son.  It's better for their own security and we also don't want you to call any extra attention to your son with the RDC's at boot camp.  There have been reports in the past of them sneaking on here and reading what is posted.

Michelervc, if your son got to boot or left for boot on the 17th then yes his PIR will be 10/14 my son left the same time.  Even though we do not have boxes or letters yet this is the next PIR date.  Welcome to the group and I look forward to getting to know you and the rest of the family members that join.

Don't worry brandonsmom, it will get better. The first 3 weeks are the hardest for sure. But, all of us veteran moms are here to help. You and all the new moms, wives, etc who join this group will all have a great time getting to know each other and be there for each other.

I am Lora, AKA Lala and I have been here helping for over a year. My daughter and SIL are both Sailors based in VA Beach. My youngest son just turned 18 and if planning on joining very soon. He will finish high school in Dec but I hope he waits until spring to leave lol.

Thank you so much veteran moms.  This week has been absolute emotional roller coaster for me and the other moms.
