Oh, one more thing, bdmama. Don't send these until you write and ask him about sending them. Never send them anything like that until they ask. Just safer that way so that they make sure all is ok and they then are expecting the package.
bdmama: Yes, it is ok to send the contacts. Just label the outside "contacts" so that they know what it is. He will still have to open it, but he is allowed to have them for PIR. Travel-size saline is the right amount too. You could put them in a padded envelope instead, if you want.
I am considering sending my SR his contacts for PIR. He only took his glasses with him, cause he didn't want to mess with contacts until his glasses were ready, can't blame him there. However, to get contacts to him, I'd need to send the two lenses, a case, and a travel size saline, which I guess would need to be mailed in a small box. Is that okay? If not, how can I get his contacts to him?
Thanks!
I am so happy for all of you that received calls...... But so heart broken for those who have not. Hang in there everyone!
thank you diannep and mamabeans:) I feel a lot better today after hearing that. I am sorry for you mamabeans, for not getting a call. I am a little relieved, however, to hear that I am not the only one who has seen other moms in there same div receiving calls. I know that sounds strange, but it gives me a little bit of comfort. Hope everyone has a great day today....it's snowing here........again! I wish the weather would just make up it's mind already;) I also hope to have good news on here very soon!
k peirce: You may want to put those questions in a letter...kinda "questionnaire" style...where he just writes in the answers. :-)
So sorry for those who are sick, but seems to happen every PIR group. With so many confined in such close quarters, sickness abounds...but they get through it and over it.
Just remember, if they call and sound a bit down, that could all change the next day. Bootcamp is emotionally up and down for them. But it gets pretty consistently "up" towards the end as they head towards that title of "sailor" and being reunited with their families!
Good morning all!
For those of you NOT able to attend PIR in Chicago... please see the above discussion thread I posted. I hope it will help.
Congrats to the moms that got their calls at long last! It makes me smile to feel your joy coming through the monitor! So happy for you - for all of us :)
I finally got my call today around 4 pm! he sounded either sick or sad but he did say everyones been getting over a cold so im hoping thats it. i was so excited to talk to him but when i got off the phone i remembered all the questions i was gonna ask him and didnt get the chance to ask! hopefully he'll get the chance to call again soon! just happy to hear his voice and glad that he's staying positive! :] happy for everyone else that got calls today too!
