Proudmom, I feel your pain. It's been six years since my last child left the house. The way I got through missing him was reminding myself that my job as a mother was to prepare my children to leave the nest and be contributing citizens in their own right. It still doesn't make it easy (once a mother always a mother) but it makes me proud to know my husband and I have given our children skills to be the independent people they are today. As trite as it may be-time heals.
I look forward to being with my son on his own turf.

Proudmom- I know it hurts....I've been feeling the same way upon those same realizations....I guess we just have to know our sailors are doing this not for themselves but our freedom and to fight for that right for others. It may never be easy but we love them even more for it....

as the week goes by it is getting harder. Him going away for a week here or there I was ok because I always knew in a few days he would be home. I had always talked to him everyday while he was gone. Now as the weeks go by the reality has set in that I don't know when he will actually be home again and when he does it will only be a visit....my heart is breaking and I thought this would get easier.

I hope everyone is having a GREAT Friday. I am still on cloud 9 from my call yesterday, I was up most of the night replaying it in my head.

mamabeans.... Did you ever get your call? I have been thinking about you.

So happy for all of those that got letters and calls.... and for those waiting, your turn will come. My SR said they get mail everyday and to PLEASE, PLEASE write daily!

I received my first letter today!  My daughter is doing well and I cried all the way through the letter.  She misses her family and cried the first night.  She passed her written and physical tests.  I am really a proud momma!

As I was looking at the list of the Chain of Command, I couldn't help but think how many of the acronyms sounded like C-3PO from Star Wars.  Then it got me thinking how all of our young men and women are walking around in gold suits, at least in the eyes of their mommas and girlfriends.

Rla1164 -What a wonderful post...I am verklempt again!

YAY on the PFA for her and section leader. So glad you got the 30 minutes!  Letters too! Woo-Hoo! Remember that you got a really good call and things are going well...so if the letters seem at all down...they are history...you have current intel! LOL

I hope they do earn another call!
