I was so grateful to get a call today. When I saw the 847 area code I almost couldn't breath. When i answered, I heard a quiet "Hi Mom" and then nothing because she was crying. I had gotten all prepared for the call, wrote some questions down and wrote "Don't Cry MOM!" on the top of the page. She called I was in the car and my notepad was in the backseat. So much for planning. I remembered most of them, she sounded good. We talked like we had just talked yesterday. I think we could have talked for several hours. She is a section leader, and her Division 03/117 has been doing well and have won some academic awards, and might earn another call. But, she said don't count on it Mom, my next call could be the "I'm a Sailor" call. Her PFA went very well passed by a decent margin and in just 1 week she says she has already increased her curl-ups by 25 more in 2 minutes. She has a cold. She said everyone does. It's just part of the deal. Yesterday was 2-5. When our 30 minutes was up, she said "Well, I gotta go" and more tears. She said it's not that bad, it's just so hard not talking to us. I told her to be strong, we love and miss her too. But it's only 5 more weeks, almost half way there. Keep up the good work and earn that extra call. I also have 3 more letters waiting at home. I am out of town. Can't wait to get there to read them. I hope everyone else had good calls.
Morning!
I received the questionnaire and a letter yesterday. My SR also put 4 letters sealed in stamped, addressed envelopes for me to mail for him. I was wondering if they only get to mail out so many pieces a week. Anyone else have that happen? If so, do you know why?
SRAT's Mom - You gave me a good chuckle regarding the WOW, Too funny!
So happy for all who received letters and calls. Keeping my fingers crossed for families that haven't received letters or calls that they get one today.
my daughter has been in almost 2 years and other than the bootcamp pictures I have still not seen her in the dress blue uniform ;-(
SOOOO glad to hear they are wearing the blues! I love those! So sharp!
Didn't get a call today but got a letter and got my questionaire back!!! Things are still going good. He still loves the food. He says that his division gets in a lot of trouble but he's not the one doing it. But he says they are trying to pull it together. He didn't pass his run (which is REALLY strange) but he says that he had cramps because they don't get to stretch before running very well. He is used to really getting loose before hitting the track. He says they wake up around 0500-0600 and lights out around 2100. He says he misses sleep, his girlfriend and xbox and ME!! He doesn't expect to get many phone calls.
I received a letter from my SR. Just think a 20 min phone call yesterday and a wonderful letter today; this is how it ended;
"Mom, I just wanted to tell you that I now realize how much you have done for me over the years and I want to tell you I appreciate it and love you very much."
Just when I was getting a handle on this crying thing,he has to start me off again..lolol...can't wait to see my SR.
Got my first call today too.. Unfortunately she got the machine, but left 3 messages!!
..."WOW"...that's a good one!
