FTLW - Thought Steak n Shake was nationwide. Too bad, they have the best vanilla malts. Try one next time. Thank you for the feedback on the dining. My SR has requested a good steak and ice cream. It's her 19th birthday on PIR.
asterzmom, they normally leave the base around 2 am to go to the airport. The flights usually don't start until around 6 am but I think they could have an earlier one. Many of them will be latter so if you go to the airport pretty early you could have anywhere from a couple of hours to several hours with them. They will know their flight info before PIR so make sure you tell them to write it down so they can give the info to you at PIR. You don't want to end up at the wrong airport. You can even send an index card in your next letter with a list of info you will need like: Airport, Airline, Flight number, flight time, gate number, arrival etc. They can fill in the info and pass it along to you :-)
I am so happy to see so many getting phone calls, hopefully more of those to come this week.
Diannep: re the post about NC schools, UNC is always Chapel Hill, They add a letter for the other UNC campus' Like UNCC is Charlotte, UNCA is Asheville, UNCW is Wilmington, UNCG Greensboro etc. I thought that might make it easier to understand. My stepdaughter will be attending UNCW this fall :-)
I can't wait to see pics of the puppies. I fell in love with my Sailors puppy this week. :-)
hello everybody I was wondering if you could help me with info reguarding flights the next day for our SRs after boot camp and what time they get there to the airport or how do we get to go back and see them off at the airport, please and thank you.
proudmom: Bumped up FTLW's discussion above about "Places to Eat in Great Lakes." Add that info to mamabeans' info!
Ahhhhh....so cute, Bob'smom. Please post a pik on here!
Places to eat.... http://www.waukeganweb.net/restaurants.html
It will also give you a list of attractions, shopping, hotels, entertainment, etc.
I am so happy for everyone that got phone calls yesterday!!!!!
One of our Boykin Spaniels just had five puppies! I wish my SR could have called today.
Can any of the veteran moms suggest some good restaurants for after PIR?
Well, mamabeans. It is possible that some can call Easter weekend...after Captains Cup. Normally, they don't allow many calls the weekend before the I'm a Sailor call, but sometimes there are surprises! :-)
We were at a wedding yesterday and missed his call, but he did leave a voice mail. Then he was smart and called his gf, so she told us even more. I can't add anything that hasn't already been said. He's looking forward to seeing us Friday, the thirteenth.
