LaLa...hope you are having a great time with your daughter!
It really is true about the RDC's being different. Look at the posts...one hands out IT for pics, (that usually are okay to send ) and another recruit is asking for supplies...when it says not to send them in the Family Guide. They are all different. Like LaLa said her daughter asked and she sent supplies with no problem. Usually when they ask they have gotten an "okay" for it.
I totally agree with LaLa, they will find a reason for IT. Please don't worry too much. ;-) Your son gave you directions now and it is okay.
It's the same thing with envelopes. There is no rule. My son had no problem with colored envelopes and I sent cartoons and word searches on the back of my letters...but he said his RDC's were "laid back" about that...strict on other things.
I think if you don't hear anything from your recruit ...it's fine. I think that some may even get IT and not say anything...they think it is worth it because they are getting it for something they love...word from home and their loved ones. BUT if they say to stop....then do what your SR requests.
IT is IT unfortunately...and I think every division gets it. My son had to do 8- counts for calling his Chief "Petty Officer"...twice!
I know you are not supposed to advertise, and I'm not sure if what I'm about to ask is 'spamming' or not. But heres my deal- I'm not quite sure I have the money to make it to my SR graduation (4/13/12 as you know) I have no license, nor does my mother at the moment, who is going as well. So yeah... a little stuck is an understatement. If I asked you ladies to vote for my cats, would you? The local radio station around here, 97.1, is holding 'The Cutest Cat Contest' and The prize money is enough money combined with what I've saved to get us out and about in Chicago. My SR has made it clear that I HAVE to be there... and quite frankly, I think I will be destroyed if I can't make it out there to see him :\ Not even sure if I can ask this- If I can't, I will take this question down immediately.
Yeah, all my letters are in white envelopes. Just the birthday cards that will stand out! Must say since they have 3 days to write now, it is so nice to get a few letters rather than just one... even if it was just a few sentences. I can't believe only 22 more days!
Some of the RDC's are more lenient than others, so I wouldn't worry about what is already done. If your SR's haven't said anything about getting in trouble, there is no sense in stressing over it. It's probably just a good practice to send white envelopes from here on.
I just sent my SR 3 birthday cards (that he should recieve tomrrow) all 3 in colored envelopes :( I am SO terrified that he will get IT to acquire these letters! Not to mention, I've sent him a good amount of photos but when I spoke to him on the phone he loved the pictures and asked for more so I hope that it still applies now, a few weeks later
Ok all you moms....I just got a couple of letters from my girl. First thing she asked is that I please send letters to her friend she met. This girl has not received a single letter so my SR has been sharing all of hers with her. I know there was some question in previous posts questioning if we should send them, but I really believe it would mean so much to them. If anyone would like to send this girl a letter, please message me and I will pass on her address.
My SR Sounds in such good spirits, and although I have not received a phone call yet, it makes my heart happy to know that she is doing so well. She said that when she was supposed to make her phone call, she ended up having to do a watch. She is so proud of herself for getting a leadership role as Port Watch. I couldn't be more proud. I am proud of all of our SR's:) Hope everyone is having a great day!
Good Morning, ladies. I'm Betsy and another "veteran mom" on here helping out. I have been MIA for a few weeks, due to a cross country road trip with my sailor. My son just got his first Orders to Bremerton, WA on the aircraft carrier CVN 74 John C. Stennis. The two of us had a blast as we drove his car Maryland to Washington state. Can't wait to get back into things on here. :)
