Clangto- 04/119 SR reported in last letter the same thing getting pushups for any mail.
Fay, my daughter did the same thing when she was at bootcamp so I sent them. My theory was that she is there, she knows the rules and she is not going to have me send items that she knows she will have to open in front of other and not be allowed to have. I don't think they really ask for anything they are not allowed to receive. I would go ahead and send it and just mark the outside of the package with what the contents are. They don't always get a chance to go to the NEX when they run out of those things.
I think you are right Clangsto about it being who is in charge. Most of them are allowed to have a few pictures. My daughters RDC even told her to get a picture sent of a white squirrel because he didn't believe we really had them here lol. I wouldn't worry too much about getting him in trouble. If they want to hand out IT or punishment they will find a reason for it. It could be that you sent too many pictures or it could be that his boots are not quite shiny enough lol. They will always find something.
Mr SR is 04/119 so they are in different ship/divisions could just be the difference on who is in charge. But I am not sending anything else by plain, simple letters. I am heartbroken that I got him in trouble.
Fay: I'm not sure about sending those things? Make sure he has cleared this with the RDCs. They can purchase these things at the NEX, by the way. You can send writing materials (paper, stamps, envelopes) without a problem. Just not sure about the shampoo/toothpaste.
I sent my SR a letter with pictures of things he may be missing and like the couch, his truck, etc and he got in trouble and had to do push ups. He told me not to send any more pictures of anything, just write letters, no jokes, just letters!
Got a letter asking for supplies like shampoo, toothpaste, and envelopes. I want to send it, but i don't want to get him in trouble. Suggestions??
Sorry I was MIA today. My Sailor unexpectedly got 3 days off and decided to come home :-) So happy to see her today after 11 weeks. But I can tell you those 11 weeks didn't seem 1/10th as long as bootcamp :-) I hope you all had a great day. I will catch up on posts tomorrow ;-)
Heard from my girl today...so great to hear her voice. She only had 5 minutes, but it was the best 5 minutes that I've had in a month! Plus, I receive three letters from her today stating she needs stamps and envelopes! I really misses us and she informed me that A school is Great Lakes, so we'll have the whole weekend with her after grad! Her little sister (11 yr old) cried after she rang off...they now appreciate each other now that they aren't together....
Mom91: Are you talking about "tickets" for PIR? There are no tickets "persay" for PIR. Maybe that is not what you were talking about...couldn't find Navy10f5's post. But just for info for others....your SRs will be updating their PIR lists in another week or two. That is when they can take people off/add people. Extra guests should still get in, however. So please be sure to bring them!
