spring: No, missing Marlinspike shouldn't be an issue. I would expect that she will make it up with another group, like FTLW said.
evanzmom: Yes, it is so sad that some get no mail, right? Some literally have "no one" on the outside. Others...well, friends/family just don't know how to do anything but text or email, and since those options are out, well...they just do nothing. My son told me before he left that he wouldn't write because "he doesn't do that." Well, he sure changed his mind! So ladies, no matter what they may have said before bootcamp, write and I bet they will write you! You are their connection to the outside world....and you may be pleasantly surprised at how "sentimental" they get when in bootcamp...telling you how much they appreciate all you have done, love you, etc. The "breaking down" period at bootcamp makes them understand what truly "matters" to them...and unleashes a whole lot of emotions. I even got a letter from my son telling me that he appreciates all I have done for him and continue to do for him. Even though I knew he felt that way, it was nice to hear "the words!"
Ok, so most in this PIR group should now be in training week #4. That means in just 2 weeks, BattleStations, their final test before becoming sailors, will be starting for some divisions. Please be asking your SRs for their BattleStations date and friend request/private message it to me as I will be keeping a schedule. Be sure to check out the BattleStations discussion group above for more info. I remind you all that we cannot post BattleStations dates on this site, but we can private message them to each other.
I'm really trying here...
Seriously Bob's Mom??!! Do you KNOW how much restraint I am having to practice right now??!! Oh my goodness...I don't think I can hold out! I feel like Chandler on "Friends" when he was interviewing for a job and the man said, "Now, let's talk about your duties (doodies)." haha he said doodies....
spring932 - IDK...I would assume they would put her through with another division...first time I have heard of it. Hopefully, diannep or LaLa will know! Don't worry, k?
In the phone conversation I had with my niece a couple of days before she left, I told her to be on the lookout for recruits not getting mail and be sure to let me know. I haven't heard of any from her, but I also told her that if came to writing to me or writing to her mom that she should write to her mom. So I haven't gotten a letter directly, but I did get two of my questionnaires back. Thank you evanzmom for giving us the opportunity to hopefully give this SR a taste of home.
Thanks to many moms who messaged me for the "SR in need of mail"s address. I have responded to all but Proudmom (please accept my friend request so I may give the address to you privately). I knew the moms would come through!! I ran straight to the dollar store and loaded up on 'thinking of you' cards to send. The gal behind me in line said, "That should take care of birthday cards for a year!" I laughed and explained that they were just fun cards for my recruit and another one that wasn't getting any mail. She said, "Awwwww". I said, "Can you imagine - not writing to your child while they are in boot camp!" She said, "I didn't get any mail from my family while I was in boot camp." Wow, I was stunned! I told her I was so sorry. Every recruit needs that love!! I wonder if there are others feeling alone. That makes me feel so sad! I told my SR in today's letter to be on the lookout for others in need. I told him us N4M's want all recruits to know they aren't alone!
Thanks Lala!!
