got a letter and a questionnaire from my SR yesterday! he is sounding so much better, and is staying positive! he passed inspection and written tests so all is sounding good:)I made me cry just getting to hear from him and know he still loves me:)
tonight though is a bit rough, especially after the stress of the past four weeks...l i found the posts with the rules for sailors about pda etc... and upon finding out the only time ill be able to hug or kiss my boyfriend will be at graduation, is really hard. For the past month the only thought that has gotten me through is knowing id get to just hold his hand....now knowing i cant is just killing me...
seabreeze..... at least I know the whole division didn't get in trouble, maybe she wrote to her friends or grandparents.
Did you SR say anyting interesting?
No letter for me yet either :(
No letter here either.... boo hoo....
Diannep... thanks for the awesome words of wisdom. Also thank your son for years of service to our country.
So proud of our daughter and her committment.
No letter today boo hoo.... oh well I am sure there is a good reason. I have been writing every day like she asked... hope I hear from her soon. ANyone else in Div118 get a letter... I would love to hear about it to live vicariously through you :)
Powerful words, diannep. Thank you!
Just going to put my 2 cents in....my son is now out of the Navy. He was an "early release," unexpectedly. Budget cuts? Maybe targeted being connected to a dry docked ship that hasn't sailed since 2009 and won't sail again until late 2013---with a very small, not-really-needed crew? I don't know. He got his Honorable and benefits, but wasn't expecting to be out so soon (nor were the tons of other separated sailors whose paperwork was on his CO's desk). He could have fought it through Legal and was told that, but after thinking about it...he decided not to. He had been hearing of these budget cuts since he arrived at his duty station back in 2010.
Having said that, he has no regrets. The Navy was good for him...he learned alot. I may be disappointed about the early release (as he was), but I'm not holding grudges. If I was, I wouldn't still be on this site helping! I still think we have the greatest Navy in the world and I'm proud that my son served (as is he.) He told me that he will be forever proud that he "served my country proudly" because less than 1 percent of the population can say that...and he loves his country.
No matter how your SR got into the Navy...whether with full support from family, fear of the unknown from family, or non-support...doesn't matter. There is a purpose for them in the Navy right now. There are lessons to be learned...and they will learn from everything they experience...both good and bad. My son has grown up alot since being in the Navy.
So, moving forward, ladies! I know you all are proud of your SRs and you will be even more proud when you see them in those uniforms, marching in unison...so mature and professional looking! Once a sailor, always a sailor...once a NavyMom, always a NavyMom! HOOYAH!
If you are on the forum pages on facebook they are doing away with those pages. Please spread the word to your friends and let them know that we welcome them to come to this site to meet others in their PIR group and Division. We are more than happy to answer questions they may have about bootcamp.
