A little about me:
My son left 8/18 for quarantine now a precursor to actual boot camp. He got to Day 1 Training but was put back in quarantine a second time for cold symptoms. He now has PIR of Oct 29! He’s my one & only and I’m so very proud of him but he grew up way too fast. I know the next few months are going to be so hard - I’m grateful to have found this group❤️ I am welcoming of any advice, support and/or encouragement.

Update: My son graduated BC (2020) & attended A school in GL. He visited for Xmas and now he’s stationed in SD but deployed on USS Russell. Hang in there new moms...I swear to you it does get easier.
I am here to support my

Good Morning Kristel2400 - I saw your request in the main room chat last night but it was late by the time I saw it and I needed to get to bed.

I wanted to share about a new group Beyond BC - Navy For Moms (ning.com) that I started a couple months ago. It is a place to just hang out and chat with other moms from BC or to keep up with your friends. Feel free to join. I don't know that there are other moms from USS Russell but you can ask questions about deployment and things.

Are you on your son's ombudsman list to receive notifications?

I believe we had a new mom just recently ask about the PACT Moms group. Even if others aren't active on there, if you post comments and just do your best to reach out to someone that might be new, you can spark a renewal in that group, even if it is just for one other mom. This site is only as active as we make it and we all have a place to make a difference.

Glad to have you back and checking in.

Hi Kristel,

This is my 120 playlist. It is close to "natural heartbeat". I sometimes add a song that ends up being "wrong", but I try to fix is as soon as possible. I think it will be about two more weeks until I can "test" the speeds of anything I added. I am *almost* starting to miss my elliptical .... maybe a few more days/weeks/months/years!

If you find anything out of speed, let me know .... I am constantly adding/subtracting/moving songs. Saves me from having to work out :).

I didn't receive a form letter but she called and got to talk for quite a bit this morning. Prob just to tell me she was in quarantine, so I got her address today. May if you get hold of recruiter they can tell you. Fingers crossed!

Kristel2400 - You are welcome!! Going through BC Mom training is unlike anything else that we do as Moms. It is a roller coaster ride of emotions and just as roller coasters in real life affect us all differently, so does sending off a child to Navy BC. None of us are alike and some are affected differently, but we have all been through the process and we learn that we can get through it, and just like our new sailors are stronger for having gone through BC, so are we Moms. It helps to prepare us for the times ahead when we have no communication from our sailors because they are out doing their job and ours is to keep the candles lit, the flags hanging in our yards, and the thoughts and prayers going forth for our loved ones.

Kristel2400 - Welcome to BC Moms group. I am glad you posted. Hopefully the discussion on how to view the site on your mobile that I linked in the main comment area will be helpful to you.
