Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.
DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.
DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

I sent step by step directions for the changes in a PM. PM's are in the Inbox that is found in the upper left.
Since your future Sailor will be in the Nuclear Field, you will want to join NUKE moms and you may also want to check out Nuke School Charleston and Nuke A School FAQ.
The Rating Information Card for NF can be found at https://www.cool.navy.mil/usn/enlisted/rating_info_cards/nukepower.pdf. (If you get the security warning, it is safe to go there.)
Your Sailor will most likely fly out to "A" School the day after PIR. See PIR Day and Liberty during PIR Weekend to help you know how to plan your weekend.
Your Sailor may have Prototype in Ballston Spa, NY; if so, join Moms/Dads/Families with Nukes in Ballston Spa, NY at that time. Some stay in Charleston.
Join Airman Family and Friends. You can also check out HAWAII (OAHU) and/or Pearl Harbor, HI. What vessel is he on, if one?
The Page, 800 and 900 Divisions, within Boot Camp Moms (and loved ones) will be of interest to you since you have a recruit in a performing division. I believe that Division 949 is Ship Staff/Honor Guard.

Comments on this page are for you and others won't see them unless thay stop by as I did. Being excited about a box of dirty clothes from your recruit is very normal. See Arrival and What Happensat the RTC within Boot Camp Moms (and loved ones) and join that group while you are there.
