All Hands Magazine's full length documentary "Making a Sailor": This video follows four recruits through Boot Camp in the spring of 2018 who were assigned to DIV 229, an integrated division, which had PIR on 05/25/2018.
**UPDATE 7/29/2021** You now must be fully vaccinated in order to attend PIR:
In light of observed changes and impact of the Coronavirus Delta Variant and out of an abundance of caution for our recruits, Sailors, staff, and guests, Recruit Training Command is restricting Pass-in-Review (recruit graduation) to ONLY fully immunized guests (14-days post final COVID vaccination dose). Still limited to 2 guests maximum.
Specific information on this policy change will be provided in the coming days and weeks.
We sincerely apologize for any inconvenience and appreciate your support.

Please note! Changes to this guide happened in October 2017. Tickets are now issued for all guests, and all guests must have a ticket to enter base. A separate parking pass isno longer needed to drive on to base for parking.

I have 3 wonderful children 21 year daughter and 2 sons 17 and 15. I have been married to my husband for almost 18 years and we now live in the panhandle of Florida less than a mile from the Alabama line. My father was retired from the Navy so I was a Navy brat while I was growing up.

I see you have joinedCS (Culinary Specialist) Moms. You will also want to check outJoint Culinary Center of Excellence Facebook PageandJoint Culinary Training Directorate (JCTD). The Rating Information Card for CS can be found athttps://www.cool.navy.mil/enlisted/rating_info_cards/cs.pdf. That indicates 9 weeks, but "A" School is 5-6 weeks after classing up.Your Sailor may fly out to "A" School inFort Lee, VA to the Joint Culinary Center of Excellencethe day after PIR, but it is not unusual for Sailors who will be going to Fort Lee to be on Hold in the THU at GL after PIR waiting to class up at Fort Lee, so you MAY get extra time with your Sailor PIR weekend just because of that. There must not be extra barracks at Fort Lee for all of those who are not ready to class up, so sometimes Sailors going there are in the THU for 1 to 4 weeks before flying to VA. I suggest that you plan to stay through Sunday night or Monday just in case your Sailor does not fly out right away. Only your Sailor will know how it will work and may not know until just before PIR.SeePIR Day and Liberty During PIR Weekendto help you know how to plan your weekend.
