Profile Information

A little about me:
I am on kidney dialysis. Have 2 wonderful boys, ages 16 and 17. My 17-year-old signed on February 1, 2011. He heads to boot camp on Oct. 4th. I have been married for 22 years. I just want to give the best support I can to my new Navy son and participate as much as possible to stay in touch and informed as to what is happening.
I am here to support my
Son/Daughter
Stage of (Sailor’s) Navy career?
Waiting to leave for Boot Camp
When I heard “Navy,” I...
Was proud and encouraged it
The Navy offers opportunities that...
The Navy allows the enlistee to more time off than what I expected. I didn't think I would be able to communicate with my son very often. Learning that I will be able to comforted me greatly. Also, the levels of education that he can pursue are great; plus the benefits.
Our Navy experience so far...
It was positive and maturing. Our relationship has grown stronger.

Thank you. I am doing ok. Her box of stuff came home today. And I got her address! Her estimated date is December 2nd also. We might very well be at the same ceremony!!!! Awesome!!!! There is a place on here that you can read about what they are doing. It is pretty general. It is on one of the discussion threads. I am not sure exactly what one. I can't find it again. My youngest daughter's recruiter was actually here when the box came home. She sent a couple of things back that he questioned.

I was on here and read about some of the stuff they will be doing the next couple of weeks. I hope she does well. And keeps her mouth shut. LOL! I expect her box on Tuesday. I keep trying to think of her on a trip, but it is hard with her sister here. Once she PIR's, I will feel better. What kind of job did your son get? My daughter got aviation support.

I miss my girl. I had to go into her bedroom today. Wow. I am glad I have work, and her sister. Actually, her sister enlisted on Thursday. So, I only have her till August 1st. So, it has been a rough week. Her recruiter told me we won't have an address until Tuesday. Monday is a holiday, so, have to wait until Tuesday.

Missing My SR!!

Posted on October 17, 2011 at 4:29pm 4 Comments

My son went to boot camp on 10/4/2011.  I did great.  We took him out to eat the night before; had a great time as a family - at a really good meal (because we knew he wouldn't be eating much after that day!).  Then when we got back to the hotel, we sat in the lobby and visited, took pictures - just mulled around.  It was finally time to say "goodnight" and I told myself not to cry.  He hugged Dad and brother, then turned around and hugged me.  It wasn't an extraordinary hug -- just a normal…
