He left today

My husband and I went to see him swear in. I have rarely felt so moved in my life. I'm proud and sad and everything at once.  We stayed with him at the airport until the last hour and half. He called from O'Hare and now we wait.

This is as hard as I thought it was going to be, but I know it is going to be worth it all.

There goes Another

My grandson leaves for bc March 11, 2014. I'm so excited for him to begin this new chapter of his life and so very proud of him. I've raised him from the time he was 6 and must admit, this one is harder to let go of than his mom (my daughter) or his uncle (my son). I'm so glad I found this site, I know it will help me cope with "the empty nest" yet again, and knowing the stages he's going through.

new to this site

My son just signed his contract last week. My husband and I have learned a TON of information about the Navy in recent weeks but feel our son has chosen wisely by joining the Navy. He leaves for boot in Sept then onto FL for A school. As a mom of course I worry about the little things: should I mail him civilian clothes, what about towels or sheets, what about transportation for when he leaves base, what foods can I send to him? Anxious about everything because it is still new, he has not…

WHY MY DAUGHTER JOINED THE NAVY.....

As many of us in America have been affected by the economic crisis. My older daughter graduated from college with a big deb and us barely making it. My little one was the most affected. She slept in friends homes and my husband was struggling finding a job while living at my sister little apartment. Finally he moved to live with his sick mother and I went to do volunteer work in order to have a room and food. While my little one worked as a food server in a restaurant. She managed to get…

Frustrated Divorced Mom :(

Can anyone tell me how I can find out on my own what Division my son is in so I can track when his Graduation from BC will be?  He left January 7th and had been delayed a day or two getting to Great Lakes due to the bad weather.  That's all I know.  I rely on my ex-husband to give me any information.   I do not know when he actually arrived there even though I asked numerous times.   According to my ex husband he said he's received no more information on my son since.  I find that hard to…

She made it!

I am so happy to say that my daughter made it! After 5 nerve wracking weeks of being in the Fit program and coming up short on her running time, she finally passed and is now happily at her A school in Indoc awaiting her classes to start. Just thought I'd post some good news :) and thank everyone for their words of encouragement and prayers.

My Son will be leaving March 4th from Michigan for Great Lakes

Hello:

WOW this has been a long journey for us. My son started the process his Senior year of High School and was denied because of a med he was on. They told him he needed to be med free for 1 year before he could try again. At the one year mark he was back in the Recruiters office starting the process all over again. it has been almost another year since he started his process they have cleared him and he leaves the first part of March for Basic Training.

He is…

PIR 2/7/14

Let me just let all the new moms on this site know that you will be shocked how much your son/daughter grows up while they were at bootcamp!! It was a very nice ceremony and I was so happy to see my son in his uniform. He is staying in Great Lakes for his A school so we got to spend time with him the whole weekend. We went sight seeing in downtown Chicago while we were there. We went to the Willis Tower (Sears Tower). We did the whole sky deck experience. It was AMAZING, I suggest that be one… Continue

The box

You wait....like a child on Christmas....then it happens...The Box arrives. you carefully place it on the table, you stare at it and you walk away. I need a minute you think. No wait I'll need a few, you gently run your hand across the top of it. You stare at the writing on the outside, you see the name. You walk away looking back at the box. Carefully deciding..when to open it....how to open it...you mentally prepare yourself. You come back over cut the tape, it's almost too much so you set… Continue

missing my daughter

You will hear faint noises, thinking it is them..walking through the door. See a reminder and their face pops in your head. You'll have a moment where you want to turn around laughing to share it with them and its empty space. Everyday I stand proud that raised such an amazing young woman. Everyday I cry hoping she doesn't feel lonely, praying she feels my love and takes strength from that. Everyday I want to hug and kiss her when she lays down at night. Everyday i want to hear her voice for…

FIRST LETTER!

I got it! I finally received his first letter! It felt like Christmas morning opening it. He started off with the less than happy news, which wasn't anything major. Thank God! Just irritated by some people who talk too much, which gets them ALL in trouble. :-) He said the people were really nice and the food was amazing. LOL! He also told me to write as often as I could. Little does he know his sisters and I have already been doing that. I did get the sense he was a little homesick, so I…

OPSEC PEOPLE!

Please stop talking about ship movements on public forums. This is not only extremely DANGEROUS for our sailors but it can get their email cut off and shut them out from their loved ones for days weeks and months. So please SHUT UP about ship movements and future port of calls. Help keep our sailors safe so that they can return home. THANK YOU!
