The time is really here. I had lunch with my girl today and I was able to hold it together. After lunch , she was going to spend time with her boyfriend and then her recruiter was going to take her to the recruiting office , then the hotel.
So , we talked and it was a good talk. She sounded nervous, but ready. She couldn't really eat anything because of the nerves. I think she was distancing herself a little , because it was hard for her to give us a big hug. She called her…

As many before me, I am over the moon excited and proud of my SR as they all approach their PIR on 5/31. It is surly going to be a long 10 days waiting to go and getting ready and remembering everything to take. If anyone has any advise on a checklist that would be great .
These last days (2 weeks ) have been really long as we have not gotten any news or calls but I know they must be really busy getting all of the tests and final stuff completed before PIR. I am still hoping for one…

Today was my first call from my boyfriend Devon! It felt so good finally hear his voice and know that he is doing just fine. He sounded so happy and that is what made me even happier! I cant wait to send him more letter with pictures:)
My son just became a first time father last night. We contacted the Red Cross so that he could be notified. Does anyone know if he will be allowed to call his wife? He is in Boot Camp right now.

My son has only completed 3 years of college, has struggled finding a decent job and it looks like he finally has decided to enter the Navy at 30 years of age. He has talked about it since high school but his father has been against it because he's afraid he will get hurt and has always discouraged him. However, I want to see him reach his full potential instead of drifting thru life and feel it will give him the direction he needs. He asked me to go with him to talk to the recruiter a…

7 Days and she will be leaving for boot camp.
I am trying not to overthink the details of the process. I think we have things under control , which is really just an illusion anyway, they tell me. Today has been a strange day , though , one of those days that seems to pass very slowly as if it is a dream.
She is spending as much time with friends as she can, and as she should, before she leaves. Friends , old and new, try to find a time to see her and wish her well. I wonder…

Hello -
My 20 year old daughter is leaving for Great Lakes on July 17th for BC then to San Antonio Texas for A school (MA). I am looking to connect with any other moms whose son/daughter is going the same time. I am VERY new at this and am looking for support through boot camp and beyond from other moms in similar situation. My daughter decided to join the Navy and within a couple weeks went to MEPS and was lucky enough to get the job she wants but it happened very quickly and now…

As I lay me down to sleep. I pray the Lord my soul to keep. To help me clear my cluttered mind. To help me through these desperate times. To bring my love to me all night. In Dreams where everything feels so right. That even if he can't be here, Make it feel as though he's near As I lay me down to sleep. I pray the Lord my pain to keep. To keep my worries, troubles, and tears, and keep me strong for future years. To help me stand up tall and proud, and crying may you not allow. No tears…

I am so relieved that I got to see my daughter today. It is hard to believe that she will be leaving 8 days from today to begin her grand adventure. She has been living with friends for the past 3 weeks and I haven't been able to spend as much time with her as I wanted to before she left.
When we talked, she was in good spirits , had a good attitude about what is to come and seems happy that she decided to join the Navy.
So , to my soon to be sailor , I wish you the best. I…

My son leaves for BC on June 3rd, wow it is getting harder the closer it gets! Everyone says oh, you should just be proud, which I am, but I am so heartbroken right now, I can't feel anything else. His dad and step dad and aunts and uncles are like so happy for him and keep telling me I should be also, I feel like nobody understands, I am his mom. I feel so selfish and numb. I do not break down in front of him, but dreading the day he leaves.... Bootcamp and six years is what I cannot…
