Computer tip for those with poor eye sight.

Computer tip for those with poor eye sight. I posted this as a comment on another blog but thought everyone should know about this.

Did you all know that you can "increase" or "decrease" the size of everything on your screen, by holding down the "Ctrl" key with one
finger and turning the little dial on top of your mouse? Try it. I just
found out about this little trick and thought I had invented sliced
bread.

I GOT A LETTER FROM MY GRANDAUGHTER TODAY. SHE WAS SUPPOSED TO BE IN AEFC. THAT IS WHAT SHE SIGNED HER CONTRACT FOR BUT SHE WAS TOLD THE OTHER DAY THAT IT WAS 138% OVER BOOKED. SHE WOULD HAVE TO SPEND ANOTHER 9+MONTHS IN A BOOTCAMP SETTING OR CHANGE RATE. SHE CHOSE CORPSMAN.I HOPE SHE DID THE RIGHT THING. I SPOKE WITH HER RECRUITER AND HE FELT SHE DID THE RIGHT THING. THIS IS SUCH A CHANGE IN PLANS. SHE SEEMS TO BE OK WITH IT.

Homesick (Navy girl)

My Navy girl, my daughter called the other day very home sick crying. We have not seen her for almost a year. I decided that it would be a lot easier if I came up with something creative.

I bought a couple of watches and I decided to syncronize them to beep every 5 hours. I send her a note saying that every time her watch goes off, mine will go off at the same time. I told her to close her eyes, at that very momment my eyes will be closing too and…

We THOUGHT we had an address!

Wow, what a major downer. I mailed 11 pieces of mail to my son yesterday after his recruiter called us and gave us his address the night before. Why wouldn't I believe him? Why wouldn't I think that he would make sure he had accurate information before calling us? I even texted him to confirm the ship #.

Today we received the form letter from our son, the one the recruiter said they don't do anymore, and in it was his address...a different address! I am sooo mad! Thankfully his… Continue

Everyone should watch this short power-point - aptly titled!

We may not realize it - but we're all at risk of this - please take a look. Gave me chills, and I need to remind myself constantly to be vigilant in this: http://www.navyformoms.com/forum/topics/1971797:Topic:921434

4 Days left

I have made my decision. Before I tell you, I want to thank everyone for your support. This is a lot harder then I thought it was going to be.

I am going to take him to the hotel on Sunday and then go back on Monday and watch the swearing in. I could just let him go with the recruiter, but the only other person going is a girl. I don't want him to think we just abandon him and I want to take him out for a good dinner. I miss him already and he is…

He's on his way!!!!

My son is on his way to boot camp. I've been able to talk to him some on his cell. He seems to be struggling with the separation and thought of "I'm really doing this". Hope it gets better for him. I anticipate "the call" at some point tonight.

We have an address

First, a big thank you to everyone for the birthday wishes. It was so nice to receive your "Happy Birthday's" for my son and myself. The day went by quickly and when I sat down at the computer last night it was the frosting on my day to see so many thoughtful messages.

We received the call from my son's recruiter yesterday and he left the address with my daughter. Ship 11 Div. 370. We can finally send him letters! Now I look at the envelopes and can't even remember what I wrote...I… Continue

My oldest daugher..

She left for bootcamp last Tuesday the 21st , we are awaiting patiently for our first letter. Her recruiter called and said that she will graduate on the 12 of November, I can hardly wait. I am so proud and excited for her, she is doing something that is absolutely amazing. My prayers go out to all the families that had to send their loved one to bootcamp...........

So It Begins...

My boyfirend Kyle and I started dating about a year ago. We've known each other longer and were very close before we started dating. He left Sept. 21st for bootcamp. I am very proud of him and I love and miss him very much. For the past year we have been absolutley inseperable. We did everything together and I mean everything. We spent our entire senior year living it up. He'd take me to dinner, or the movies or concerts or dances. He'd do anything to make sure we were having a blast. I even… Continue

21st Birthday on Deployment

Happy 21st Birthday to my son Christian. I wonder what you will do today? In your last e-mail you said you would probably be busy working. I wonder if any of the people on your ship will acknowledge it or try and do something to make it special for you. I hope the package I sent 2 weeks ago arrives today. We will celbrate it again when you can come home.

His sisters and I took a few pictures with a sign that says "Happy 21st Birthday" telling him that we love him and inserted…

Happy Birthday!

Today is my son's 20th birthday. I couldn't be more excited for him to begin this new year in his life moving toward this awesome goal. I can't help but remember the day he was born...just minutes before my own birthday. He loves to tease me about how I didn't want to share my birthday, which couldn't be farther from the truth. I thought it was nice that he had his own day to celebrate and it has given him something to tease me about. HAPPY BIRTHDAY bud, we love you!

7 Days

I really hate this. What do I do? Do I take him to the hotel and say our good - byes there or do I let the recruiter come get him? If I take him, I will be crying all the way there and back. I just don't know what to do.

The box

He left us on Monday evening, flew out on Tuesday afternoon and on Friday we received "the box". I was expecting emotional but found myself smiling. Yep, those are his clothes, yep, the right shoes, hmmm smells minty...gum, there's his phone and for my son who can't stand the idea of not brushing his teeth 2+ times a day...disposable tooth brushes! I actually enjoyed getting the box : ) I'm even chuckling while re-reading this.
