I FINALLY got REAL MAIL! Omg it was so wonderful to hear from her! She seems to be in good spirits and still has her very wonderful sense of humor! She did get injured though(knee injury, bruised), and had to walk on crutches for a few days, or until it's better. I feel so relieved to see her beautiful handwriting on paper! Her last date on letters was March 31, so I hope her knee is recovering, because she was on light duty, and could not stand for more than 15 minutes at a time. She told…

Got our first letter yesterday and I am so proud of my son. He sounds good and that is a relief. I still worry though, he will always be my boy.

I was blessed to receive a phone call from my daughter today. It was such a wonderful call not only to hear her voice, but to get tid bits about what she is doing in BC with training and her leadership role. (today marks her 3rd week in BC). It was a great phone call ~ I'm still on Cloud 9!! One thing that stood out in our conversation, besides how happy, upbeat and positive she was, that she said several times that "we are One Ship ~ One Team". I was so proud to hear her say those…

I have a very close family friend that wants to attend my daughters PIR, I understand that there is some open seating (NOT GUARENTEED TO BE AVAILABLE) that they only allow people entrance to right before the PIR starts....
Is this true? Can she get on base with me with proper ID and just wait until they allow people to be seated in the open seating area?
Does anyone know about things like this?

My son reported to GL on Wednesday, March 21st. His first phone call came on that Saturday, and his letter with contact and graduation information came the following Saturday.I feel like I am in a unique situation as I am not his point of contact. My son got married a month before he left for boot camp. It was a whirlwind of events to say the least. I was a single mom, so my son and I were always very close. As you can imagine, I have been through my share of emotions the last few months. He…

So proud of my youngest daughter, she left for boot camp March 27, 2012 from California to Great Lakes, IL. Today I received her box, from Fed Ex...was hoping for some shred of news, or a note. I thought the coming of this box would bring me great sadness instead, I feel nothing but pride!

As the day approaches my heart aches but jumps for joy all at once , knowing that she will be leaving my side makes me sad , but knowing that it is to serve our country makes me proud. we are giving her a going away party on 4/14/12 and she leaves 4/17/12 I'm afraid I will break down the second she puts her foot on the bus at meps.

My daughter recently graduated from RTC March 9th and now is in A school. She recently found out that she will be deployed. I guess I just realized that I won't have her home on Thanksgiving and Christmas and it broke my heart. This will be the first holidays that we went be together as a family since she was born :'( Time to suck it up...Today was an emotional day!!!

I have seen other ships and divisions saying they have received letters or REAL phone calls already. I have even seen some post that Ship 12, (from other divisions) have received letters. I'm just curious if anyone has heard from their SR from our Ship 12 Division 147?
