Just got through watching my son get on the van to Amarillo (in Lubbock, TX). From there he will get on a plane tomorrow headed to RTC. I knew this would be tough but ...WOW! I know he is going to a great place and that he has a good future planned out but it is so hard letting go and allowing him to spread his wings and fly solo! If anyone else has kids going into RTC now, it would be great to get to know you as well as anyone else who may have advice. My son should be going to…

Well, after two trips home; after being asked to be ready to head to Kansas City, Greg finally got to go to MEPs. He signed his APACT and will begin DEP. His BC date is 15 Feb 2012. This will be our second family member in the Navy! We get to meet with the recruiter on Wednesday so he can give us a run down of what to expect from here on out.
My baby - is going to be gone and doing his thing. I think I will need a stronger support group!

I thought for sure that I would get my letter today. But I didn't... and instead I got an unexpected phone call.
I got to hear from my husband. He called to tell me that he needed a form of I.D. sent asap. He couldn’t say much and before I could fully grasp who I was talking to, he had to go...and that was it. It all feels so surreal. ..I keep starring at the phone hoping he'll call again.
I know that 'no news is good news', but not knowing anything is so miserable...Please…

My son left today for bootcamp. What can I say? I feel like there is something missing. He is not here to talk to or even just set and watch tv with. I know that everyone goes through this when their son or daughter leaves, but you don't know what it is like until you have been through it. Although I know that it will get easier, it feels like it never will.
I miss my son and I want hime to come home, but that is being selfish. He is doing what he wants to do and what he has…
