This picture brings tears to my eyes, it is of my oldest son Stephen- while he was serving in Iraq, over the wall of fallen soldiers there. There are so many that we can no longer express our appreciation to.
The Air Force Featured my son 2 years ago with an article and this picture.…

November 8, 2010, I was privileged to go on my third Honor Flight out of the Davenport, IA/Moline, IL area. The weekend before the Davenport Legion hosted a brunch for us "guardians" to meet our WWII veterans we'd be accompanying. I was assigned three veterans--delightful men who were excited to go (they're all excited!). I also was asked to be a bus captain--just a field trip with older kids!
On Sunday night, Hy-Vee grocery stores hosted a…

My son Nick was taken out of his basic training division 3 weeks in to it. It seems I made a horrible decision 3 or 4 years ago that could now cost him his dream of serving his country. Nick was diagnosed when he was 4 years old with ADHD and when he was 16 or 17 his doctor felt that he had "outgrown" the ADHD but still had some minor self control and social skills issues and told me the best thing to do would be to change is diagnosis from ADHD to Aspergers Autisim. He explained that this…

Its been an amazing few months since he joined, and today he will leave for boot camp, Last night at dinner with myself, my ex and our spouses he said he is most nervous about the plane ride to Chicago! I couldn't be more proud of him, yet I am feeling over whelmed with bitter sweetness.
