Hey Everyone!
Remember when we were doing those polls in the top left on the front page a few months back? One of the things you asked for is more of a Navy 101 video. And thanks to the help of Rear Admiral Robin R. Braun, we are able to post it today.

I know there has been some chatter, but I am just confirming... Do we have moms helping our sailors on Turkey Day? If so, how?
If it's not you- but you know of a N4M member that is doing something (serving dinner to them, etc)- I would love to know.
Thank you Mom.

My cousin Bill is a doctor at Walter Reed, and now an Army Reservist. His father was a Navy hero, killed in WWII. Bill never met his dad. He's the smartest, nicest guy I know; I wish I could have half his brains and charm and dedication! He joined the Army Reserves in his fifties, inspired by the wounded soldiers at Walter Reed. They sacrificed so much, he felt he has to serve also.
Please take a moment to read his…

This is one of my sad memories from when I was a little girl.
My dad was with an air squadron, he would deploy with the carriers for six to eight months at a time. We were stationed in Norfolk, well, Oceana. This was way back in '63 or '64. The church held a Daddy-Daughter Dinner Dance. I was very excited, because I rarely got to spend time with my dad. I was only six or seven. We were all dressed up, and ate the supper, but he got called back to the squadron and had to leave twenty…

Quote of the Week:
“For in this modern world, the instruments of warfare are not solely for waging war. Far more importantly, they are the means of controlling peace. Naval officers must therefore understand not only how to fight a war, but how to use the tremendous power which they operate to sustain a world of liberty and justice, without unleashing the powerful instruments of destruction and chaos that they have at their command.” – Admiral Arleigh… Continue

The Sea Calls
By M. Clayton
In the warmth of a golden afternoon,
A mother waits for the clatter
Of boys and their friends, soon.
Silent hours pass, no chatter,
Her young son has been called to the sea.
In the darkness of a night without sleep,
A bride reaches across the bed.
Fingers brush the empty sheet,
She misses the man she has wed;
Her husband has been called to the sea.
Playing and laughing, a child with her…

Hello N4M Members!
Important stuff here and I need everyone to read it. We’ll be enforcing some new rules starting today per direction of the Navy.
No need to get upset or panic… okay? I like to call this the growing pains of getting bigger and needing to become a bit stricter about a few things.
1. So, Navy saw it as a
breach of security on N4M’s when members were telling other members how to bend and break the rules (IE get into PIR w/o a parking pass). Thus, any…

When I got out of the shower and headed into the bedroom this morning, the local news had the Army Band on. They were playing Anchors Aweigh. I burst into tears. Silly me.

Most of the American populace thinks it improper
to spank children, so I have tried other methods
to control my kids when they have one of 'those
moments’
One that I found effective is for me to just take
the child for a car ride and talk.
Some say it's the vibration from the car, others say
it's the time away from any distractions such as TV,
Video Games, Computer, IPod, etc.
Either way, my kids usually calm down and… Continue

I got a call from my buddy Troy, they're finally back in port. He's going to take two weeks leave over Thanksgiving, so we'll get the chance to visit. He's an ET, directly inspired by hubby and myself ... since we were both ETs. He's even on hubby's old ship! He's a great guy, loves the Navy and plans on twenty years at least.
And the very same day Troy called, I got a letter from my nephew in bootcamp. He's learned some new knots, which is an in joke about camping for us. Poor kid…

Ok, friends. This Blog is not meant to hurt anyone feelings or make anyone feel not worthy. God loves us all the same. But I thought it might enlighten those of you that don't come from a military background. This is what your son, your daughter, your husband or your wife will experience. The greatest life of all. Enjoy!
When a Military Veteran leaves the 'job' and retires to a better life, many are jealous, some are pleased, and others, who may have already retired, wonder if the…

Blake agreed with me that it was best to do our ceremony before he leaves. I'm so excited i can hardly stand it!! I'm so excited that we only get two days as husband and wife but it makes seeing him after basic anticapated more! lol. Both of us decided, before we met, to wait until we were married to have sex. So it makes our day even more special. But it has really taken him leaving off my mind. Before we thought of this it was all I thought about. Because I was panicking because we weren't…

WOW!! What a beautiful thing to behold! You can read posts and watch video after video but you have to EXPERIENCE to understand just how fabulous it is.
After driving 13 hours to Chicago we were needless to say exhausted. We had reservations at the Navy Lodge and just on a hunch inquired see when we could check in ( it was about 0730) they were nice enough to find us a room so we could rest awhile. We then rode around and explored the area. We must have drove past the front gate like 20…
