My Son Leaving is Leaving for Bootcamp 1/23/2020

My youngest son is leaving for !
Bootcamp on 1/23/2020. He seems to be ok & ready to face this next phase in his life, but I’m a little anxious. I’m super proud but I’m not scared because I know he has a good head on his shoulders.
Are there any other moms with a child leaving for Bootcamp on 1/23/2020?

Boots in House for Christmas

Hello All,

It has been amazing to have our sailor home for Christmas. Though I would catch myself being sad here and there because I kept thinking to myself. This may be our last Christmas together for awhile. As most of your know, my husband and I were in the Navy. So, we do get it but it just hit me that after tomorrow. When he goes back to A school that we will not know the next time we will see him, but that is…

5 Years in...........

I am a Navy mom of almost 5 years. They have been 5 years of excitement, trials, tribulations and now ending in dissapointment for our son.  He has had a stellar record in the Navy every advancement you could imagine so quickly too- the Navy was his home. He had just recently enlisted for 6 more years to head back to Japan where he already served 3 there.  We thought everything was going great - cloud nine.  To receive a call from the Military that he tried to take his own life a month ago. …

Our Navy Adventure Has Begun

So much has happened in the last few weeks that I hardly know where to begin. I apologize for the long blog post, but this is actually very therapeutic for me to write here, and I hope that it might resonate with others who are feeling the same...

My son enlisted and entered into the Navy DEP in early September. Prior to this, he went to community college for 2 years, but didn't enjoy it, and decided over the summer that he might be better suited for the military. He scored…

Holidays

Hi, good morning all!! I wanted to ask, how do the holidays affect PIR? My son left the week of Thanksgiving, so he will be in boot camp for all upcoming holidays. I didn't know if this pushed back PIR a week or so, or how it worked.

Thanks so much! I miss him like crazy!!

New Navy Mom

Good morning all!! This is my first post, as the last couple of weeks have been busy. I dropped my son off November 24th (my birthday) at the recruiter's office. The following day, I drove down to MEPS to watch him swear in. The first week without him has been ok. I'm just keep reminding myself that he is good! He and I are very close. It has been just the two of us since 2012. We flooded in 2016 and lived in a 26' camper in the drive way for almost 18 months. That just made our bond…

It has been a really rough two weeks

My son facebook messaged us to tell us that he was being rerated as he had failed his test again. All he wanted to be was a corpsman. He was getting really good grades on the labs but it was the test. This was something that I was worried about when he said he wanted to be a corpsman because I was worried that the test would trip him up.  My son, has never been a very good test taker. He over complicates them is the best way to put it.

One of his instructors said that they learn two…

Our son left 11/20/19.

Today has been hard. I'm always texting one of my grown children asking how's it going, good luck on your first day, or some such thing. Not being able to check up is hard, so waiting on the form letter so I can at least write. So very proud of his choice

Fleet Sheets Info

Hey all!

My son is home on leave and I asked how he was liking the Fleet Sheets we purchased for him. He said  "I'm so sorry they got thrown away." They had a long holiday weekend, so he was away from ship and they had some kind of inspection. That specific inspection does NOT allow anything other than issued rack bedding. He said if he knew he would have temporarily removed them. They gave no information other than...sorry we threw them away because they didn't meet the standards for…

Phone card advice please

Can any on you advise me where I can get a phone card? I received a letter today from my brother today and he asked if I can send him a phone card. I have looked at Walmart before and at Walgreens, but I couldn’t find anything. Will any of you please let me know where I can get this? I know they can buy it at the base, but I’m assuming he doesn’t have a lot of money. Also ... he rarely ask for anything, I would hate not to send this. Thank you.

The day is finally here

On our way to drop off our son to his recruiter so she can take him to MEPS. He flys out tomorrow. Swearing in around 9 in the morning. He is so ready to move forward. Not sure I am. Just a few more hugs before he leaves.

A New Dream - Faith Over Fear

Hey there Navy Moms! First of all, I want to express my high respect for anyone that has served in the military and am extremely thankful for your service and all of our brave kids out there serving our country. Also, this site has been incredibly useful to me and I would not have survived without it. Thank you Navy moms!
