OPSEC - Navy Operations Security

Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind.  In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships."  OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.

DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.

DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

Kristi: Is Amrik's last name the same as yours? If so, you will need to remove your post that has your last name in it and re-post for others to message you for your last name in order to facebook you for piks! Last names on the boards is a breach of security for the military...so best to keep them off! Thanks! Dianne

Hey! You may have already read this but the 5.0/5.0 your son mentioned is the higest score they can make on each test---5.0 So if he aces all of his tests, sounds like he has been told he would move up a rank! YA!H Good luck to him!

Hi "Amrik's Mom," and welcome to Indiana Moms! I'm the administrator for the group, so if you have any questions, please ask. My son is a Nuke MM serving on the submarine ALABAMA, based out of Bangor, WA. He's been in for 4 years.

If you're near Indy (or willling to drive), there's a monthly informal dinner in Avon (on the west side) which meets on third Mondays. Click Aug 16 on the Events calendar (right-hand column) for those details.

The 8 weeks of bootcamp are tough for the sailor AND the mom, but they WILL pass! Just write as much as you can, keep telling him he can do it, and that you're proud of him and love him, no matter what happems. And if you attend PIR ("Pass In Review" = graduation), you'll be so proud that your chest will hurt!

Jump in with any questions or comments you may have. I think you'll find we're a nice bunch of folks and always willing to lend an ear to listen or a shoulder to cry on. Hugs! k.
