So today's the first full day without my daughter here. It's rough. I miss her so much! I cry alot, trying to stay busy. I got the very scripted call late last night. How do all of you get through this?

So our 18yo daughter shipped out Aug 1st. It’s been hard on us too. Miss that kiddo. Time flies so fast even when you are aware of it and try to enjoy and be in the moments as they grow up.

Write lots of letters. I’ve found that writing a letter each day helps. I have a stack ready to mail as soon as I get her full address. Try that. Write her each day and just talk.

hello leslie.

my son left two weeks ago and i cant go into his room.   he is the youngest so we are also empty nesters.  iyesterday was the first day i was home alone.  i cried, but i know this is what he wants and that makes me feel proud.  and like donna said, wrtie letters.  between writing letters and being on this web site helps me to feel a bit closer.  good luck to you.  you will become navy strong!  also if you see my icon, i think a each day that goes by,the light get a little brighter!

My son left Thursday, had a better day today but was much more difficult then I ever imagined

StacyJ, check the date of this discussion.

Thank you

StacyJ - I wanted to respond and let you know I saw your reply.   I had replied too, before realizing it was an older date discussion.     (You and I can have a current discussion . haha!!) .    Hang in there.   It is helping me to see that it is common for us moms to find this surprisingly difficult.  I was caught off guard by the intensity of it.   My son left Tuesday (13th).  Today, Thursday, is the most together I've been since Monday night when we said goodnight at the MEPS hotel.

I think staying busy is good. Can you do good things for yourself?

My son shipped yesterday August 13, 2019. It was hard and I also got the scripted call. I had to ask my mom how she dealt with it when I called because it was very different than what we have experience with my son. She told me she kept busy and worried also but mostly kept busy.

I left info on your My Page.
