We will still do some other small groups this month.

1.    45 soldiers in Haiti.  Matt's mom and I did them.

2.    10 soldiers in the sanbox.  The contact is from Tucson.

3.     Marines from Molly's group.  Lyn was handling the count and knew in order for them all to get      a pc more help was needed.  196 total from HAE crew,  115 after Lyn asked for help.

4.     Dawn in Afghanistan has a new address and location. Need 200.

I am working with a couple of Tucson units.  I'll keep you posted on those possibilities.

Love it Sue, Those smiles make working on pillowcases worth it. I'm am so blessed to be a part of this group!
I would love to see a picture of Dawn carryuing the stuff around. Don't you love the guy with the cowboy hat? his pc has horses or buffalos on it. love that fabric. I have buffalo fabric. my horizons sure have been broadened from stars and stripes for pcs.

and we are blessed to have you Kim!
I don't know about you all, but I sure do get teary-eyed when I see these smiling faces, knowing that these moments are few and far between for them.

And how about those shorts that say NAVY - we love all of the branches, but there's just something about seeing those four letters appear that give me Navy Mom goose bumps!
These are wonderful. Isn't it fantastic when they write and send pictures.
Now how cool is this? I had this picture printed for the luncheon I spoke at. I showed Dustin and Joe today (Ben's buddys). Dustin is the sailor that worked in the postal system in Afghanistan. He knows the woman and the guy in the yellow shirt!

He said that he delivered those pillowcases to Dawn. haha. He saw our labels on the boxes.
This is what went to Dawn:

Awesome Michelle....I love your prints!
Wow Michele! Good stuff!!
Dear Navy moms:
I just wanted to send you an email and let you know that a lot of the Marines and Sailors are getting a hold of your nice pillow cases. I still have some left here in the Chaplains office but I give them out when people walk-in. Thank you again for all your support.

Respectfully

What a great thank you note and good going Michele. thanks for posting the pictures.
here's another one. got these a couple of days ago, but was consumed with the Tobey saga and just couldn't get to it.

It's so nice to hear from them:
Navy Moms,

Thank you from a grateful U.S. Marine. I had the luxury of laying my head down on a very comfortable and patriotic pillow case last night. I slept like a baby, and it may have been because it was made with love. Thank you Ladies.

here's one that came from Dawn's group. Ally made hers. Ally did you the thank you email from her?
This one was sent to me:

Hi,

Wanted to say thank you for the pillow case that I received. I will cherish it as long as I can. The gifts in the pillow case was more than appreciated, the pillow case was enough. You must one of the few with a big heart. Thank you!

Hi Joe & Sue,

I'm so glad to hear you two got a chance to meet and catch up. Sue, I am still in the process of filling all the pillowcases with the goodies Joe sent. I am waiting on a box from Kimberly and once I get, it I am going to hand out all the "troop humanitarian aid" donned in pillowcases. I have handed out about 15 so far and have a bunch more to go! :)

Life has been crazy here. We had a suicide bomber detonate right outside our gate a few days ago. I was in my room putting on my shoes when I heard/felt the blast. I walked outside and saw a huge plume of smoke. The convoy was headed to my office and we lost several US and canadian soldiers. Very sad day and it makes us all remember that we are in the midst of the fighting season here. You just never know if you are going to be in the wrong place at the wrong time. Despite that, people still joke and smile and go about their jobs like any other day.

Thanks again for all your love and support from back home!

Dawn

I understand that bombing happened Tuesday while I was at the election. Michele had heard and followed up with Dawn so I knew she was okay. but her note reminds us that we are at war and why we do these things.

Tamara, she got your box.
