Michele is the coordinator for the MO National Guard unit. She has been waiting until we were done with Ft Hood. WE are! whoohoo! awesome job ladies!

Michele said that this unit has never received packages as a unit.  Just individuals.  They said:

We would also appreciate any items you want to send us. We don't need any toiletries items however, we could use just about everything else. We actually have a room set up here and organized for our soldiers to utilize.

I know we would love any:
Snack foods, candy bars, chips, dips (obviously the kind that can be sent without refrigeration)
Snack cakes (hostess or little Debbie type cakes)
Ramen noodles
Cookies
Microwave popcorn
(any) Healthy snacks like protein bars, etc.
Boxes of bread mixes (we have a bread maker)
Vegetable Oil (for our bread maker)
Individual powdered drink mixes
Air Fresheners
Cleaning Wipes like Clorox wipes, Febreze

No need to send coffee, we have a ton of that from Starbucks, that is about all I can think of for now. We also have plenty of books and magazines. I think we could use some deodorants and soap, but like I said before no toothbrushes or toothpaste!

I really appreciate all that you are doing for us back home."

And just so you all know, this Unit is known as the "Houn Dawgs" (yes, I spelled that correctly). I haven't had time to look up their emblem, but I am sure that you can all figure out what types of PCs they would probably like!
I am going to mail flour and yeast, add water and salt and they have french bread.  I'll even include the recipe.   haha.  So I guess some bread machine mixes if anyone wants to do that.

Yes, we can do the 3 special pcs.  Granny will do.

Sue and all: Here are the details on this Unit: (thanks Sue for starting this discussion). I will post here, and send you an email with the same detailed info, and you can then edit the discussion to reflect the information.

This Unit is a large battalion located in a FOB in Afghanistan. There are 436, with 37 females. My contact there sent me the following information, some of the info about additional care package content, the family of Sgt. Kisseloff, and thanks for supporting them. If anyone would like to add to their PC packages, please feel free to do so. I am not asking specifically for any certain items - you are all gracious to offer to send, so please decide for yourself. They need our support, and they appreciate it... I am most certain of that.

"Michele,

We are always very grateful when people back home keep us in their thoughts.

As far as doing something on behalf of our BN for SGT Kisseloff's family that is a very gracious offer. I believe there has been a trust fund set up for the Kisseloff children who are now orphans. I am sure this is an especially difficult time for his children.

We would also appreciate any items you want to send us. We don't need any toiletries items however, we could use just about everything else. We actually have a room set up here and organized for our soldiers to utilize.

I have the address, and I will give it to Sue, in case I am not readily available to respond back.

What I have told my contact is that I will give him a 'checklist' of how many boxes, and from where they are coming, so they can be on the lookout for them, and so we can keep track also of what has been sent/received. If you would just post in this discussion how many you are sending, I will make sure to add the info to my 'CHECKLIST' that I will keep track of with my contact.

I was very clear with my contact about our OPSEC integrity. Under no uncertain terms will I violate that for any group, Unit, or branch of service I send items/letters/care packages.

I am very encouraged, and devoted to our Heads at Ease pillowcase project, as Sue knows. We make a tremendous difference in many of these heroes' lives. I feel honored, and privileged to be able to make a difference in their lives, regardless of which Uniform they are wearing.

We do this because we are 'Moms' and other relatives who appreciate, love, and support all of those who serve. I hope you all share in these same sentiments and values that I hold so dear.

Thank you for helping and supporting this particular group of men and women.
Michele aka Navy Mike's Mom
Sue I will take the last 11 females for this group and I will plan on sending them a box filled with treats also.
Thank you Cathy! I added you to the count.

oops Lyn. I just saw your post from earlier. Do you mind letting Cathy do these?

Thanks Granny, we'll get you the information.

do you think we could send oil?
I can mail some snack items as soon as tomorrow afternoon if I need to. Just let me know when to start mailing.
Sue did I count wrong? I thought Granny posted 16 female and Lyn 10 so that would leave 11 females without pcs. If you have the females covered that is fine I will try to work on some for the males. I just had a stash of females that I was going to pull from.
Don't mind at all. I'll just send the 15 males and add a few treats to the box.
No, Cathy, you can count! It's me who can't! ding dong anyone home? haha. I just read that wrong. Thanks to Cathy and Lyn for the additional females.

heard from another contact. And I think we have them all. I asked her to double check something in her stash and then I'll post the amount.
Michelle, I could send 30 male. That should give me room if I break them into 2 boxes to send some little supplies on their list, too.
thanks Natalie, I've added you to the count.
Sue, Do you know when we are going to get the address for this unit?
sorry. I have it and I am mailing tomorrow. Anyone else ready to mail? I'll forward to you. I have to go to work soon, but Lyn, will send right now.
Sue if you would send it to me also and I will mail in the next couple of days.
