Michele is the coordinator for the MO National Guard unit. She has been waiting until we were done with Ft Hood. WE are! whoohoo! awesome job ladies!

Michele said that this unit has never received packages as a unit.  Just individuals.  They said:

We would also appreciate any items you want to send us. We don't need any toiletries items however, we could use just about everything else. We actually have a room set up here and organized for our soldiers to utilize.

I know we would love any:
Snack foods, candy bars, chips, dips (obviously the kind that can be sent without refrigeration)
Snack cakes (hostess or little Debbie type cakes)
Ramen noodles
Cookies
Microwave popcorn
(any) Healthy snacks like protein bars, etc.
Boxes of bread mixes (we have a bread maker)
Vegetable Oil (for our bread maker)
Individual powdered drink mixes
Air Fresheners
Cleaning Wipes like Clorox wipes, Febreze

No need to send coffee, we have a ton of that from Starbucks, that is about all I can think of for now. We also have plenty of books and magazines. I think we could use some deodorants and soap, but like I said before no toothbrushes or toothpaste!

I really appreciate all that you are doing for us back home."

And just so you all know, this Unit is known as the "Houn Dawgs" (yes, I spelled that correctly). I haven't had time to look up their emblem, but I am sure that you can all figure out what types of PCs they would probably like!
I am going to mail flour and yeast, add water and salt and they have french bread.  I'll even include the recipe.   haha.  So I guess some bread machine mixes if anyone wants to do that.

Yes, we can do the 3 special pcs.  Granny will do.

Can mail anytime between 7-28 and 8-7.  Needs 436, 37 are female.

29 in a medium flat rate box - I am impressed Granny V! I have sent boxes before that I imagine basically exploding open when they cut the tape because I have packed as many as possible in a box.
Beautiful pcs Granny! and 29 in a medium box-impressive. my best is 22. What are your packing tips?

tonight I bought: 5 pounds flour, 4 packages of yeast for my french bread recipe, which then just needs water and salt. I also bought butter flavored crisco sticks. He mentioned they can't bake cause they don't have oil. I was tempted with th oil but didn't want to create a mess. But I have some recipes that used buter. why couldn't the crisco be used instead. any thoughts before I mail off tomorrow?

Ladies, I'll forward the address tonight. sorry, have been busy again. But I did make 2 pcs today! whoohoo. a whole one and a banded one.
has anyone mailed yet? mine are almost packed and I am mailing this morning. my friend Anita gave me a box of powdered eggs for their bread making.
I am mailing my box today with the 11 female pcs and I filled the rest of the box up with treats for them.
thank Cathy! I am changing the count right now and will add these 11. I mailed 32 yesterday.

Michele, I would not mail all of yours just yet. You will be able to reduce the number that you need to send I think.
Once Florence packs, she'll tell me how many she got in. right now, we have 3 more than needed.

I cant' wait to hear how the baking things went over. oh BTW, I talked to my good PO guy yesterday and asked him if we could mail oil. and he said yes. So maybe I would try that sometime.
Ladies, I have 2 boxes with protein bars, microwave popcorn, ramen noodles, sunflower seeds, Little Debbie Snacks and 4 big tubs of Clorox wipes. I plan on mailing them tomorrow if my granddaughter and I can make it to the post office with them. lol
wonderful Kim. more important to spend the time with addie. go if you can, but no stressing.
has anyone else mailed?
I have 2 boxes with 30 pcs ready to go to the post office. hope to get there tomorrow afternoon. as soon as I pick up a couple goodies to finish the boxes off.
thanks Natalie! Has anyone else mailed?
I mailed my 2 boxes on Saturday, Sue.
