The USS Abraham Lincoln will be deployed for Christmas and has given approval for the ship to receive pillowcases while on deployment.   That will be 5,000 or more strong.

The main postings for this project will be in the Lincoln group under the thread called "The Lincoln Family Love Pillowcase Project".

I will update here as well so you don't have to join the Lincoln group.

Let us know what you can do to help us get the ship done!

Gwen that is great that all of your sisters are helping out! My 15 year old niece started sewing pillowcases for Heads at Ease recently.
That's great news ladies! Yes, Gwen, just sew and stash. Stephanie Alice will let us know who to mail them to in November.
Thanks Ladies! They are working on them now! WOOT WOOT
Hello, my son is with the squadron vfa 34. What do I need to contribute to be sure he receives a pillowcase?
His grandmother sews also. I can see if she is willing to help if you need her.
Hi Lisa and all VFA 34 moms. !st, I would like to have your email address. please pm it to me. 2nd, I am taking care of this squadron as my son is also in it.

My original plan was to mail a pc for each squadron member from Tucson, as my son was born here and the HAE project started here. I had planned to wrap each special request sailor separately with their name on it.

But I've had a couple of moms and wife want to make those special pcs. So this is the new plan. If you don't sew or have a family member to sew it, then look for the special fabric that they would like and mail it to me to sew.
But if you do sew etc, then I would ask you to make about 20. I can get 20-22 in a medium flat rate box. That would help take care of the squadron.
I dont know exactly how the shipping will take plac. Stephanie Alice is the actual coordinator of the Lincoln project, I am the coordinator of Heads at Ease and that's how the LIncoln pcs all came about. Jackei said in Feb "Sue how about pcs for Christmas".

I have been busy cataloging pcs for the squadron. But if you squadron sewers can do at least 20, that will free up my pc stash to help with the medical and firefighter units that HAE is also doing.

Thanks all. I have to get to bed./
okay, it's official. The Lincoln is next on the list for pcs. Stephanie Alice, the wife coordinator is going to meet with the command to get the actual unit etc names and numbers.

Until she does, just sew and stash. As I was browsing Joanns last Saturday, I found some great food prints. So bought some and thought "ding dong, you need to do the CS unit too. I love those sailors, they work so hard."
My friend Barb came over Sunday night and I gave her a bunch of food fabric, which will be bands. The bodies will be solid, gingham (like an old fashioned picnic basket) or tiny dots. She can get 80 of the fabric I passed to her. Granny, you'll see some of the fabric you sent to me in them.

So excited! I can focus on my ship now.
Sue sent me some angel fabric that I can use for bands/patches.
Sounds good.
I haven't heard from Stephanie yet about the Nukes or the Command staff. I asked my husband and he estimates that the Nukes should number about 150 to 160. He was a Nuke on the Nimitz years ago.

I guess she is waiting to talk to the ship? I don't want to bug her, she has so much on her plate.
I will email SA tomorrow. We do need some numbers. The ship command was going to meet with her when they returned to homeport. they didn't want to send the info over the internet.

Kim, I have 18 helos for you. I can get about 20-22 in a medium box. do you want me to mail to you or to hold them and mail direct? if direct, I'll take a photo for you.

picked up some pcs for the CS unit. They are so cute! just what I envisioned for the culinary specialists.
I have 50 pcs finished for the Lincoln.
