The USS Abraham Lincoln will be deployed for Christmas and has given approval for the ship to receive pillowcases while on deployment.   That will be 5,000 or more strong.

The main postings for this project will be in the Lincoln group under the thread called "The Lincoln Family Love Pillowcase Project".

I will update here as well so you don't have to join the Lincoln group.

Let us know what you can do to help us get the ship done!

They are nice, Tamara. I love some of the colors.
Tamara, really nice work. Love all the blues, so peaceful...
Nice job Tamara! I especially like the material with the deer on it.
beautiful Tamara!
Thank you. :)
Those are great, Tamara! I think the tie dyes are neat! Just mailed mine off. will post some pics shortly. I usually have trouble attaching the pics
It takes me awhile to do the pictures. I always forget about the camera icon at the top and do the "upload files" instead, and then I have to delete stuff. :(

THE PILLOWCASES ARE ARRIVING!  This morning, I received a thank you note from one of the sailors on the Lincoln.  At first I was not sure in which group the sailor belongs but a little sleuthing helped me.  I looked at his address and it said "cvn72" so I know it was the Lincoln.  I also am pretty sure the sailor is not a part of the air wing since the address did not say "cvw2."  Anyway, here it is:

Dear granny……

Thank you for the pillow cases you sent to us…all the guys are using them we stand out from everyone it’s a very nice and appreciated gesture we do think about the time and love you have put into making these, my grandmother is a seamstress too I know the time and patience it takes once again thank you can’t wait to be home….

As the rest arrive and are distributed, these guys will not stand out much any more.  Don't you just love these notes?!!

That is so great you got a note.  I love hearing that they are starting to get them!  I've asked my son and Air Dept. hasn't received theirs yet so maybe they are holding them til Christmas!

They could be.  I was surprised to get it.  Maybe we need to keep quiet about the ne for now. ;-)  Sue, shall I remove it for a while?

Absolutely not.  this is a thank you and Christmas project rolled into one.  I am personally glad that they are receiving the pcs already.  I wrote back to this sailor, who is in crash and salvage to see which one he got and here is his reponse

Hey sue, yes im with crash and salvage were a special group of guys our  primary mission is to save life's and prevent further damage to the aircraft....... I have the one with the fire cross, Dalmatian, and flames in little squares with a red opening ill try and take a picture thank you again can't wait to be home again.

Great job Granny!  I do my best to response to every thank you and I appreciate Dori doing the same.
