The USS Abraham Lincoln will be deployed for Christmas and has given approval for the ship to receive pillowcases while on deployment.   That will be 5,000 or more strong.

The main postings for this project will be in the Lincoln group under the thread called "The Lincoln Family Love Pillowcase Project".

I will update here as well so you don't have to join the Lincoln group.

Let us know what you can do to help us get the ship done!

Oh what a great photo!

here's another one:

Hello,

I just wanted to take the time to say a big thank you to you from me and my Squadron for the pillow cases!

I have to admit, its one of those things you don’t really think about until you’re several months into deployment and all of a sudden, receiving new bedding and amenities becomes the highlight of the week LOL! It’s funny how the small things make all the difference out here.

I’m not sure how, but I managed to snag the only John Deer pillow case before any of the other guys (it was a toss-up between that and one of the Truck ones)… a little reminder of home.

Once again, I can’t thank you enough for your support, letters and gifts… it really brought up morale!

Take care and keep up the amazing work!

Sincerely

Sue, I wonder if the John Deere pillowcase was one of those made by one of the students at the middle school here. I will have to look up the pictures of those I sent to unit.  If so, I would love to share that letter with the school. It is always good to let the students know just how much their support for the troops means.
very nice

I will have to scan the photo in to the computer, but will have to reinstall the scan part first.  Here is the handwritten letter that I got from Rear Admiral Guadagini:

Dear Sue,

Thank you very much for the fabulous pillowcase your volunteer organization made for me.  The pillowcase now holds a place of honor on my bed aboard USS Abraham Lincoln!  The efforts of the Heads at Ease team will help American servicemen and servicewomen feel a little closer to home each night.  The pillowcases will also serve as a reminder of what is good  in America and why we are fighting for truth, justice and a peaceful existence for all Americans.

I hope you enjoy the enclosed picture.  Thanks again for all do!!

With Great Respect,

M D Guadagini

Rear Admiral U. S. Navy

He also wrote one to Lyn, who made them.  I included my letter in each one to the command and told them who made them.  I just had the honor of mailing them.

Yesterday I recieved this beautiful note from the USS Abraham Lincoln Strike Group Commander.

Dear Lyn,

Thank you very much for the spectacular pillowcase you made for me. It is a beautiful piece of art that now holds a place of honor on my bed aboard  USS Abraham Lincoln.

The tender, loving care that you exerted making the pillowcase will serve as a nightly reminder of my duty to protect the nation and my duty to keep all Sailors safe and secure while we are deployed. They all have loving mothers, like you, and I need to return them to your arms when the mission is complete.

Thank you again!

With Great Respect,

This is so nice!
Wow Michelle that is a lot of pillowcases!  Great job!

After receiving a message from this sailor, where she mentioned that my pc was the only gift she received for Christmas, many of you came through for her by sending cards and care packages. This is a message I just received from her. I guess now that they are in port for a couple of days, she has access to the internet.

Thanks to each and every one of you that helped out!!!!

Birdie you are awesome I really appreciate all the you and the other MOMS are doing to support the troops. The care packages that all of you sent out came in handy. I am looking forward to getting involved with one of these groups when I retire.

Absolutely!

I'm going to hold her to it. :)

you do that and thanks for posting this!

Michele that's why I like the photos.  I go back to them many times.
