Our new group is a Marine battalion called CLB-4.   This group has a Tucson connection as at least

1 Marine is from here.  His grandma works at the Quilter's Market and is responsible for their support for Heads at Ease.

Our POC is the chaplain and we will mail all pcs to him for distribution.  He told me the other that the chaplain from the ESB had a surplus of pcs, so he passed them onto him.  He said he received 3 boxes and he thinks there are 90.  Soooo, that said, I am moving up the waves so he can get to handing them out.  He didn't want to until I told him we were ready to start shipping.

They need about 525.  Not sure if the 90 comes off that number or if that is in addition to.  But I will confirm.  If someone has some ready and wants to ship this week, great, but it is not necessary.  I have alot on hand and might as well get them to the troops.

thanks Ally!  The 2nd wave would be great.   Birdie, those are awesome pillowcases!

Sue, I'll be in Florida from the 2nd through the 6th of May. Do you want me to mail before I leave or after I get back.

Please mail before you leave.  Thanks and have fun.

Mine have mailed....sorry for the late notice....Ally

thank you Ally!  Mine finally did too.   We will finish this group up on the next wave, so sew and stash ladies until I get confirmation on our next group.

Awesome job!

Sue, let me know if you need more, I have a bunch ready if you need them.

Unless the chaplain says different, the numbers for wave 3 will take care of it.  Just stash those for the next group.

Thanks!

This week is wave 3 mailing.

Sue, I need the address for this group.

I'll mail them first thing on Monday morning, now that I'm back from Florida.

Lyn, I emailed it to you several days ago.  did you get it?  it will say CLB-4 in the subject line.

I apologize first of all, because my intent to stay in steady communication with you has been thwarted over and over again.  HN Sxxxx also did not last as my chaplain assistant, so I have mostly been working alone.  Recently I have been assigned Sgt Axxx, who has been very enthusiastic and helpful in the office.

I am happy to report that it has been easy to be enthusiastic as we have begun to see the waves of beautiful pillowcases arrive at our office!  We are currently in the midst of the distribution to every Marine and Sailor in the battalion, starting with those working here at Camp Leatherneck (most). They are able to come by the office themselves and pick out a style they like.  In the near future Sgt Axxx and I will also take some pillowcases on the road to outlying bases where our Marines are also assigned to live and work.

Sgt Axxx and I did note the special delivery request for Kathy's pillowcases to be offered first to her grandson, Jerad's, co-workers in his section of H&S Company.  We hand delivered his "Three Stooges" pillowcases to him yesterday, and allowed his co-workers and supervisors to take their pick from one the 'bootsnguns' boxes as well.  They were very surprised and grateful that Cpl Mxxx grandmother (and so many other kind souls) in America had taken the time to make such a nice gift for them.  They were also impressed that Cpl Mxxxx cool grandmother seemed to have accepted the nickname "Noodle" for her grandson, which I gather is one that the Marines gave to him.  Anyway, we did get a few pictures, and I will try to get those to you.  Hopefully, Cpl Mxxxx will also let his grandmother know that "Noodle" received his pillowcase. And I thank you, Kathy, for the beautiful, patriotic flag and eagles pillowcase you designated for me.

Like that shop, the rest of our battalion, from our CO, LtCol Cxxx, and SgtMaj  Bxxxx all the way down to our LCpls and junior Corpsmen are so impressed with the comfortable feel and exuberant designs of the pillowcases.  Heads at Ease has definitely been a big hit for CLB-4!  We thank you so much. SgtMaj Bxxxx, who received the most gung-ho and impressive of the several USMC designed pillowcases which came from one or the other of your boxes, is likely to write you his own word of thanks for what he considers to be a true work of art!

The total number of pillowcases we will need is actually around 525, so we should be good to go with the ones on the way and the extras from 9thESB.

I don't think it will be hard to find other chaplains out here that would like to work with Heads at Ease on behalf of their units. I will try to pass you some names soon.

Again, many blessings to you, and on behalf of all the Marines and Sailors of CLB-4, thanks for the beautiful pillowcases and the strong sense of support and love from home!

V/R Semper Fi,
John
