My younger son and I got to watch his older brother swear in at MEPS this morning. What a wonderful experience it was. I am beaming with joy and tears at the same time while awaiting his phone call sometime tonight. I can't wait to hear his voice!

I watch my Only son swear in on Sept 26th. I did hear from him that night that he had arrived in Chicago. Hoping to get letter this week. Are you planning on going to graduation? Where are you from? I live in Orange County.
I called the recruiter ofc and they told me that the graduation is scheduled for the day before Thanksgiving. What city do you live in in Orange County?
yes I will be attending the graduation. Just do not know how long to stay for. I do not want him to eat Thanksgiving by himself if he is is not shipped out. I wish it were easier to find out information.
Where will he be going for "A" School? If he stays at GL, plan to leave late Sunday or Monday since he will have daytime Liberty each day of the 4-day weekend. If he flies out, he MAY fly out Friday instead of on Thursday due to the holiday, so plan to fly out late on Friday or on Saturday to give you the most time with him and this will allow you to meet him at the airport and.give him his things.
Thanks for your advice. It is so hard. I think I will fly in on Tuesday, and leave Friday or Saturday to go home. Where are you from?
I am from Missouri. My Sailor has been in for four years and has reenlisted for another four. Do you know what your son's rating (job) will be?
No I am not sure. I can see my son reenlisting and making a career out of this, which I do not mind. What I do mind is this BC..
Things get better once BC is over and you will talk to him frequently at times and then after awhile, it will settle into every now and then, but by then it will be fine because you will know that he is doing what he wants to do and is living his life. Then and now, you will know, "No news is good news!"
:o) Do you remember his rating (job)?
Electrician's Mate (EM) stays in GL, Aviation Electrician’s Mate (AE) goes to Pensacola, FL and Construction Electrician (CE) goes to Wichita Falls, TX for "A" School. If he will be an EM, then yes, he'll stay in GL.
I'm glad I can help.
