While there, complete your Profile so you can post and share photos and videos of your Sailor and share stories with other moms!

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security
Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.
DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.
DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

In light of observed changes and impact of the Coronavirus Delta Variant and out of an abundance of caution for our recruits, Sailors, staff, and guests, Recruit Training Command is restricting Pass-in-Review (recruit graduation) to ONLY fully immunized guests (14-days post final COVID vaccination dose).

♥We Stitch Love Project♥
We Stitch Love is a program where we create pillowcases and other handmade items for our deployed military.
Our goal is to help these heroes have a little bit of ‘home’ while they are away from home. We are helping them with sweet dreams when they take a break.

Pillowcases can be sewn together or premade cases can be decorated with paint or tie dyed. There are several different ways to make a premade case special if you don’t sew. As long as there is love inserted through effort, they are stitched with love!
A standard size pillow is 20”x26”. Pillowcases should be at least 22”x28” or longer. The body of the pillowcase should have at least one side that is soft to sleep on and without seams where their head will rest. There are different ways to sew a pillowcase. Here are a couple different ways.
Always prewash fabric and premade cases to remove sizing and shrinkage. (Adding a little vinegar helps to soften the fabric and set the dyes)

A different version is to cut the body 24”x44” and use an 8”x44” band. Sew band to body, press seam towards band top. Stitch side and bottom of body, zigzag edges so they don’t fray. Turn inside out, press and top stitch band seam. Turn down ¼” and press, fold over a 1” hem and stitch.

For inexpensive plain (second quality manufacturers runs) visit www.pillowcase.net for large quantities of white or colored plain pillowcases to decorate.
Be sure and post pictures of your completed pillowcases and of any sewing parties.

Did you take a picture of those loving and caring military helpers' hands and feet? Need to post a picture of you with your pillowcases!!!!! Thanks a million. I took 18 plain ones over to my Marine girlfriend who just finished doing t-shirts. We laughed at our hands--even though we wore gloves. Now, we did not get it on our feet. Ha ha. Thanks again :)

I haven't updated the count on here but we have about 150 now not including mine. I will have at least 40 so that leaves 90. I may get a more finished but just depends on how 'needy' my family is this weekend! Sally, how many can you send of those 90 still needed?

Does anyone need fabric to make pillowcases for WSL? I have some I can send out if you do. Just PM me your address. We will need many for our next adoption so get your machines humming and your creativity flowing for decorating ready! We will give you exact numbers as soon as the new adoption is posted! Thank you all for sending a little bit of home to our heroes!

Well a little at a time adds up. Every time I walked past my sewing room this weekend I would cut a couple of bottoms or cuffs. I just counted and I now have over fifty to clip together and sew. Guess that is what I will do in Indiana this week. So my stash will start to grow just like my garden is.
I have a lot of female pillowcases so I will do the females for the July adoption.
Hope everyone is enjoying their summer. Carol did you get your serger running? If you need help maybe we can meet and I can help you. Download the different ways to thread your serger from the internet. Private email me if you need help.
Tip of the day. If you have those handy clips from clover they work really well and faster than pins. That is all I use because my serger will not do a PIN well.
