My son left yesterday for MEPS in Harrisburg, Pa .When he met up with us before swear in he hands us a piece of paper that says his program has changed to UT rating are excellent for highly qualified applicants with only 1000 men/women in the Navy work as a UT.
I feel like this is a little weird. Plus he was ranked up to a E-2 in June. We get there and it says he's only a E-1 rank papers may be delayed in Pittsburg they would get it fixed before he leaves. Well that didn't happen so now I'm afraid he's going to loose that rank he has his 4th person sign up so he would be a e-3 in boot camp. Now I don't know what to do the recruiter said he will talk to someone but I don't hold faith in that their job is done with my son, Please help me if anyone knows what I can do or if anyone has a son/daughter in as a UT

Thanks, It was such a shock that he got changed at the last minute.
That is interesting that his contracted rating would be changed like that. I hope everything gets straightened out with his pay grade (rate).
me too. He worked hard for that ...
Thanks for the Seabee site now it makes sense he wanted to be spec ops or navy diver so after reading up on all the links UT falls under that he has a lot of skill training to go thru in A school for 12 weeks in Texas then he goes 26 weeks to Pensacola ,FL That was his dream but when he went down to Meps and scored high there was no jobs for that area. I guess he didn't want me to freak out about it yesterday he just said I have this paper of a different job I will be happy but you wont. he knew how emotional I was yesterday and I would go online and find out once I got home ...He got me Good!!!! But deep down I'm so happy he finally got what he wants. He got the best possible 18th birthday wish. Happy 18th Birthday Connor!!!!!
I'm glad it's what he wants and this will be less stressful for you. Special Ops is hard and very few make it all the way through, so this is good for him, especially if it is what he really wanted.
