Its been 6 DAYS since my son left and still no letter or package from Boot Camp. I'm going crazy with worry and really feeling very odd about the fact that I have wrote this boy 4 letters already. When will my letter come? I think the mail man thinks I've turned into a stage 5 clinger who's stalking him. And if it will get my letter here faster I have NO PROBLEM turning into his very own personal stalker! I just had to vent!!

I got my box yesterday. Hopefully a letter today;). My son left the 4th.

You should be getting a form letter from your son that gives you his Ship number and his Division number.  These will be part of the mailing address to get mail to him.  It will also have the names of the 4 people that he's chosen to come to his graduation ceremony and a password for you to use in order to get your base pass when you go to the ceremony.  In the next couple of days, you should be getting a box with his clothes, phone, etc. that he brought to boot camp.  Have a jack and coke on hand when the box arrives.  It just gets you.

We did not get a letter from our son until about two weeks passed.  We did get a short phone call from him that he told us that he had arrived and was safe and sound.  About a 60 second phone call.  But we started sending letters to him once we got his "form letter" and when he was finally allowed to call home, he told us that those letters were a "life saver" because he was so homesick.  They were just the ticket, so write a lot and keep his spirits up.

Kids today are not letter writers.  Hang in there.  Once you see how well your son is doing, you will be a proud mom.

Hi Dave,

A few years ago, I put together a couple of discussions to consolidate information from various sources and to provide new members with a guide for getting thru bootcamp. My son finished his commitment to the Navy in 2012, so I am not as up to date on things. However, I am still on this site to support new families. If you have time I was wondering if you would look at the following two discussions and and recommend changes that would improve the discussions:

Thank you for being here.

BunkerQB.

P.S. Just sent you a friend request.

It's been 2 weeks, the girlfriend did get the box, but still no letter with his address...and I have written several too!

My SR left on the 4th.  I only have a box no letter and we now have 5 inches of snow and expecting an inch of ice on top of that.  So needless to say it will probably be 3 to 4 days before any mail is delivered.  Hang in there!!!!

Yippee! Your heart will swell with pride and you'll do a happy dance when you get that letter! Take a deep breath...and stay coming on this website to help you vent! My son will have a year in next month March! This website has been my insight into what happens to us through this incredible life change. You'll continually learn that your Seaman Recruit will become a great Sailor and make friends with memories that'll last a lifetime! Have fun shopping for Proud Navy Mom gear! Sending prayers and well wishes your way today and forever Navy Sister!

My son left on 1/31. I received his box a week later(FedEx), I am still waiting on a letter. The first thing I do when I get home from work is run to the mailbox, hoping to receive something.

8 days gone and still no letter, but on the bright side my mail man now knows that I can't wait for him to get here daily.

No letter here either. Mine left on the 5th.

Hopefully they aren't in limbo still waiting on more people to arrive - need to get this ball rolling :)

Be patient and believe me i know that is hard but you will get one-and you will never get rid of the ones you receive-our son did that 2 years ago and we still have all of them-

My son went on the 5th.  Got the box 2 days ago, but no letter today! :-(  I wish I would get it, but I know some people have had to wait 2-3 weeks.  I just want to be able to send his letters!!

I am sorry :( My son has been in for 2.5 weeks we got the box on week 2 but no letter or calls yet:(
