Mary Ellen, you embroider on both sides?  I bought a machine but haven't played with it yet. :)

Yes I did both sides, I change thing up sometimes to be creative.  What type of machine did you buy?

I bought a husquvarna, ruby.  Someone traded it in for a better model so it was a deal.  I just haven't had the time to sit down and play with it-been working on kitchen remodel instead. :/

Sincerely,  LSCS(AW/SW/IDW) Louis xxxx  Supply Dept. LCPO  USS Vella Gulf (CG-72)

I don't know who it's addressed to, but here are some more photos from the VG:

bottom are Pat K and the top 2 are the ones I sent.  Remember, I don't make all of those.

Christmas in July just arrived from you....i almost want to tear up and I am for the generosity that you have given us.....May God bless you and know in your heart that when we lay our heads down at night, we will be thinking of the person that supported us and our troops. ....
Thank you from my heart....
TSgt. Gerald

Sue,

That is wonderful. Brought a tear to my eye reading it. Job well done ladies! Let's continue to lift the spirits of all our military. Hooyah!

Barbara from California.

I know Barbara, I teared up when I read that as well.  :)

the notes are fabulous!  here's 2  more:

Thanks for everything you do for us. I received a pillow case and it's super beautiful thanks. This is SrA. Bernabe. Thanks again and have a blessed day.

Head At Ease (Carolyn S),

Thank you for the pillow case you fabricated and provided us. I've
got the Air Force design one and I like to consider myself lucky to get it.
Every night I can rest comfortably knowing that we're not forgotten by the
people we serve for. Thank you and I really appreciate it.

Dear Rose and "Heads at Ease" crafters,
Thank you for the pillow cases you made us and sent downrange. I was in our
community center building the other night during our July 4th celebration
(the most fun I've had during my 6-month deployment thus far) and saw some
beautiful pillowcases sitting in a basket for us to take. There was one with
a white background a red polka dots with a farm scene on the edge that
grabbed my attention. It reminded me of my kitchen at home, where I have
several cow-themed items like my teapot, vase, towels, measuring cups, etc.
Although we have a free linen exchange here, I absolutely hate using other
peoples' sheets, even if they are "clean" so I always pack my own. My sister
actually sent me some Toy Story sheets that she found at Walmart and I love
them. This pillow case that you made is bright and brings a smile to my face
and some color to my drab room.

Thank you very much,   Cheers

Now I am really kicking myself for being behind!  I got the contact info for this sub from a WW2 vet that I met in Feb.  I should have taken this note along as we chatted about the USS Tucson.  Good thing I have his email address.   BTW, he has a friend who will contact me about another sub.  They are tricky to do.

All of the pillowcases sent were made in Tucson since they went to the USS Tucson.

Thank you so much for taking the time to sew pillow cases for us. It is really great to receive such support from our patron city! It really feels great to be appreciated by those so far away and that I have never met. Your small donation of time and material really made my day. Thanks again for your continued support and know that there is a sailor sleeping more comfortably today because of you.
