My son was also in the hotel last night. He swore in today at MEPS and was then bussed to O'Hare airport to wait for others to fly in. One of the hardest days of my life.
My husband is headed to great lakes today (7/16) as well!
My daughter left on July 9. Now the wait begins.
My so left for boot camp today. He's my youngest of 3. I'm so excited for him but so sad deep inside. I'm so afraid that even though the 18 years I've had him has flown by, that these 8 1/2 weeks will go so slow.
My son left today from St Louis. It was a sad and great day all at once. I will miss him like crazy!! We had such a nice visit last night at the hotel and today at MEPS we had so much time to spend together as a family waiting for him to be sworn in. I am so glad I was able to do all of this with him. I did really great and didn't cry in front of him and didn't really cry until we were about 20 miles from home when I realized that my son doesn't live with me anymore!! He will have a great future and will come home to visit me.. but will not be the same. Now it is a waiting game until the phone call! One day at a time!!
you will be okay, my son hasn't left yet, but soon, only 2 weeks , I'm sure my post after he leaves will read the same as yours, you feel a lot like the way i feel, their short time at home went so fast, but their time away will be so slow, let's hope we will get to communicate with our sons often, and enjoy whatever time we do spend together
