I have no idea if I am doing this right or not but here I go. My son is leaving for boot camp on 8/5/14. I have no idea what to expect. My heart is breaking and i feel so alone. I feel like I am being silly for being so emotional but it is going to be so hard.

All the same feeling here too so know your not alone.  Been a week today that he left and still get tears.  I do know mine will be ok too just a whole lot of new things to adjust to all at once, but it will make them stronger!  Now waiting for the form letter so we can send all our letters to him.  Hang in there!

My son left yesterday 2.. what meps did your son ship fr? My son was familiar with the process, because his older brother shipped last year, so it made it a little easier. My son is 19 a very young 19, but he is pretty mind strong.. He's been an athlete since he was 5, so hes not even worried about the physical part.. his only real concern was how much he will get 2 sleep.

Well, he will be up for about 40hrs straight.  I just spoke with my son the other day.  He arrived the 17th of July.  He said he was falling asleep standing up.  If he listens and does what he is asked he will be fine.

My son left from the MEPS in Troy MI. Proudest and hardest day of my life.

He will be fine, although he may struggle with a few things, every recruit does.  In fact, not knowing some information prevents anticipation anxiety.  Boot camp is structured to help them succeed. Have faith in his ability, even if he sounds horrible and doubtful the first time he calls.

I went to boot camp in Orlando, and was only in DEP for one week.  Never ran a step or memorized anything.  Completely unprepared.  I became a sailor.  If I could do it...

Hello there!  My daughter left today as well.  My son is already serving.  I would love to chat more!

I hugged my son and watched him board the bus for the airport today also.  It was impossibly hard and now everything that used to bring me comfort is making me cry.  I still am able to talk with him but I know that will be ending soon.  He is my only.  I understand when you say you feel like your heart is breaking... This is awful.

Omg, I feel for you.  Did that 3 weeks ago today. Hardest thing to do. You will get a quick 15sec phone call when he arrives. More listening than anything. Just tell him to be tough and you love him.  You will cry when you see things you did with him. And worse cleaning his dirty cloths I cried.  Geez tearing up just writing this.  This forum is a great support and I only signed up yesterday.  They are always here to comfort you. Be strong for him and start planning to go to graduation.

My son is sitting at the airport waiting for his 6:40 flight to Boot camp and I have been crying all day sitting in his room. I thought I was ready but I am not. The reality of him not living in the house anymore has me a wreck.

I left info on your My Page.
