Look forward to meeting your daughter and seeing you!
@ Anita - it's the AJ's at Val Vista & Baseline 6 to 9pm. It's a regular meet-up, just a group of moms (Blue Star) who meet on the patio under the misters and chat - very informal and fun, talk about anything & everything, no 'military' or other agenda. I went last time and there were only two of us showed up but we talked for hours and it was fun to get to know each other.
The party's coming together great! I think Jane from here is planning to be at AJ's and she's a big part of the the party planning. I can't make it this time though, have to go to the airport :)
And photos are always welcome!!! The only caveat on here is that if they're in uniform, to blur out names first.
Good morning! I'm reading about coffee at AJ's. What's happening at AJ's (besides coffee, obviously) and which AJ's - the one at Val Vista and Baseline or the one in Chandler? Also, what time? I may be able to make it and meet some of you lovely ladies before the big event on Sunday. It would be nice not to walk into Bass Pro Shop totally "blind". Haven't had bunch of time to get onto the site the last couple of weeks - my son came home, I went to Disneyland with my daughter and her family, and my son is still here. Please let me know.
Also, would it be okay to post a photo or two from his welcome home party?
Barb, so far yes but I'll keep you updated as the RSVPs roll in.
Cindy, I think it's this Thursday? Jane will know!
Marcy...thanks for putting that awesome invitation together. I saw that someone else is bringing some barbeque meats, so I signed up for Mac & Cheese. It's pretty yummy! I dress it up with little diced green chiles and sliced all beef hot dogs.
So do you think planning for 30 people should do it?
Looking forward to it!
THE PARTY INVITATION IS HERE!!

When you click to RSVP "yes" and click "confirm, you'll be taken to the next page with several tabs up top including "Potluck." Go there to see what others are bringing and to add what you're bringing, if anything. Also add if you're bringing guests so we can get an estimate of how many are coming.
I emailed invitations out today to those whose email addresses I have, too. So be sure to RSVP!! I can't wait for next Sunday, it's going to be a great event!!
By the way, here's more information about Admiral Sanders:
As Commander of Combined Task Force 151, Admiral Sanders commanded 4,440 sailors on 19 ships from seven nations in a coalition counter-piracy force operating off the coast of Somalia. He served in this at-sea command tour until January 2010 and currently serves as Deputy Commander, U.S. 2nd Fleet.
Such sad news; prayers for his family. What a tragedy.
