My hubby will also come on Aug 7, unless an unplanned pet sitting job comes up.
He "might" also come this Wednesday...he didn't come to last mtg, but there were a couple other Dads there and it was nice to hear them tell some stories and get to know them too.
Pam..(from Camp Verde?)...are you still with us? Her husband came and we all thought he looks just like George W. Bush! He said he hears that a lot!

PollyAnna...You are so right...I think Nuke school IS the hardest program in the Navy (except for SEALS of course)...at least that is what we were told. And, it takes a special kind of person to handle some of those Nuke jobs...especially being on a sub for months at a time. (the only sub I like is with tomatoes and mayo thank you very much!)

Anyway, when our sailor first signed up, they said he qualified for Nuke, but he personally didn't feel like it was for him (glad he was honest)..so they told him the second best to Nuke would be ET or FC in the AECF field. He chose ET. That schooling is also very long...2 years...that's why they have to sign an 8 yr. contract. It's long, and hard, but they sure are being trained well. And....heck...we know they are pretty safe while still in school, right?!!!

Personally, I think ANY job/rate is awesome...they all get super training...and every single recruit has my utmost respect and gratitude for chosing the military life and service.

Again...welcome to the east valley. Try not to get overheated during your move! Hope to meet you soon.

Hi Cindy! RE dates - it's all in the Party discussion up top :)

PollyAnna - where in east Mesa are you moving?  I used to live out there many years ago, and until recently I worked for the City Prosecutor's office of Apache Junction, not much farther out than east Mesa.  Welcome to the area.  It's a lot hotter here than in Prescott!  I actually started with USS Ronald Reagan Mom's the beginning of the year, but Marcy got me started with this group.  Now I can't stop!!!

Oh I know, I'm the same way - you take some cornmeal, add some ground beef, etc LOL   Instead of a new discussion, we can just add dishes to the "Party" discussion above.  You can still email me recipes marcy@marcyscott.com.

Great idea, Marcy.  I'll have to write it out so it makes more sense.  I've made it so many times (as has my daughter) that I know what I am supposed to do.  Our family loves it!  I got the original recipe from a friend about 20 years ago, so you can imagine the recipe card is kind of messy!

Anita, that sounds so good!  Oriental Chicken Salad it is.  I'm going to post another discussion with our choices so everyone can see what the others are bringing.  If anyone would like to email me their recipes, I'll print them out and can place copies by the dishes - I know I like to be able to go home and make something I've enjoyed at a party :)

PollyAnna - welcome.  I just started today, too.  I was able to talk to Marcy, and she filled me in on the meeting on Wednesday and the event coming up in August.  Not sure I can make it next week as I have a prior engagement, but I'll be there in August.  My son will be home on one month leave - maybe I can get him to come, too.

What would anyone plan on bringing to the potluck?  I could bring a big batch of Oriental Chicken Salad, if that would be okay?

Here she is, all done with A school and ready to get out to the fleet. Thanks Barb for the nice comments.

Sherri...I see her! She's sure a pretty young woman...and that single shot photo came out great. She certainly looks happy and proud! You can take a copy of it from the TSC FB page and post here for all to see (if you'd like). If you want to, but can't, just let me know...I'd be happy to do it for you.
Just love these happy sailor pics!
